Holy Thursday Prayer Service

The Notre Dame community celebrated a Holy Thursday prayer service at the Chapel of the Holy Spirit on the campus of Sacred Heart University this past Thursday morning. Fr. Cipriani led this service to help prepare our students and faculty for the coming Easter weekend. Fr. Cipriani's homily focused on the depth of Christ's love, and he explained that the washing of the feet sets the example of loving service that all Christians must follow. Readers at mass included Dominise Carter '12, Mary Kate Vicenzi '12, David Malvicini '12 and Gina DeSimone '12. Fr. Cipriani also performed the washing of the feet, with a student, faculty member and staff member all represented: Victor Olivares '12, Mr. Dicks and Mrs. Daniels.

Insoluble Paintings from Art Students

Students in Mr. Testani's art class have been busy working on their recent projects where Art meets Science. After chosing a theme and a color scheme to create their own insoluble painting, each student cut out foam sheets in shapes of their theme, put them in a leak proof pouch and then added water color paint together with oil paint. The two liquids will never mix so the colors stay separated. When turned upside down, the colors shift as the liquids drip down the painting. You can view the paintings along the art hallway on the third floor.

LAX Pasta Night A Success!

The boys' lacrosse team held their second annual Pre-Season Pasta Night this past week. The team members and their families came together to renew and create new friendships and bonds. Each family brought a goodie or beverage to share; a special thank you goes to Ron McDaniel and Lisa Skawinski for preparing all the pasta dishes for the team. This year's team consists of 16 returning players and 17 new players. The pre-season scrimmages allowed the team to hone their charging, clearing and defensive skills. We anticipate an exciting and challenging season!

Service Hours Are Now Past Due

Service hours are now past due.  Any student who has not competed the requirement by this time (5 hours for freshmen, 15 hours for upperclassmen) has received an "F" on their report card for the 3rd quarter.  Students must complete their service hours and turn in their verification sheets before final exams begin or they will receive an "F" for the 4th quarter as well.  Students who do not complete their service hours do not move on to the next grade level until they fulfill the requirement.  This means that seniors who do not have their service hours completed will not graduate until the hours are completed and verification is turned in to Mr. St.Onge.

Many students have completed service hours but have not turned in their verification sheets.  Students who have completed hours but have not turned in their sheets do not get credit for their service hours until they turn in their sheets.  These students will receive an "F" until their paperwork is turned in to Mr. St.Onge.

There are numerous opportunities for service hours currently available through Campus Ministry and other clubs.  Those students who have not yet completed their service hours are encouraged to investigate these opportunities.  Parents who have questions are asked to please address them to Mr. St.Onge via email: stonge@notredame.org.
