On Saturday, October 29, members of Campus Ministry, their families and ND friends prepared and served breakfast for the veterans at the Homes for the Brave Shelter in Bridgeport. Over 30 men were served egg sandwiches, sausage, homemade muffins/pastries, hash browns, french toast and juice. The following students volunteered their time: Mark Komaromi '14, Tyler Owen '14, John Shrelki '15, Evan Yiannoulis '13, John Notarfrancesco '14, Emmett Whelan '14, Phil Di Noto '13 and Mark Salvioli '13. Family member volunteers included: John's sisters - Catherine and Claire Notarfrancesco and John's parents - Albert Notarfrancesco and Mary Ellen O'Connor, Marianne Cassidy, Kathy Stefanatos, Mark's dad - Mark Komaromi, Theresa Marzik and Joanne Salvioli. ND friends who volunteered were Clarissa Cincotta and Isabelle and Linda Boccuzzi.
On Friday, October 28, the following students played big brothers and big sisters to the first grade class of Saint Andrew School in Bridgeport. The day began with trick or treating at ND classrooms and offices, followed by an amazing and entertaining magic show from our own Dan Murphy '13. There were, of course, plenty of treats consumed in the cafeteria at the party. This was followed by a contest where the kids, armed with a roll of toilet paper, tried to "create" the best mummy.
Thanks to all the teachers who participated either by baking or handing out candy. On Sunday, October 30, students gathered in the ND Chapel for Mass, followed by a Boo at the Beardsley Zoo outing. This was a big brother/big sister event coordinated with the first grade class of Saint Raphael School in Bridgeport. Each little brother and sister was accompanied by a ND student for a festive and spooky stroll through the zoo. The following students participated: Maria Delgado '13, Medjine Jean Jacques '12, Cassie Picard '12, Danielle Bahr '12, Jerlisa Thomas '13, Kevin Bradley '14, Corinna Santos '12, Tori Kuhn '13, Jessica Kuhn '11, Jasmine Barada '12, Sofi Geismar '13 and Sara Figueroa '13.
On Wednesday, November 2, the junior and senior members of the boys' and girls' hockey team were big brothers and big sisters to the sixth grade class of Saint Ann School in Bridgeport. Everyone enjoyed a Bridgeport Sound Tiger game that was part of a state wide school promotion day. The art students latest projects are their halloween masks which have animal prints. A site has been set up for students to upload images of their recent art projects. Click here to view some of the work that is being done in Mr. Testani's art class.

Underclassmen Yearbook Pictures
Freshmen, sophomores and juniors will have their yearbook pictures taken on Wednesday, November 9, during English classes. Students will receive picture package order forms next week. All students will be photographed for the yearbook, and any students ordering pictures must bring their order envelope and extra payment (cash or check) with them on Wednesday.

Academic Banquet/Honor Society Inductions
On Tuesday, November 15, the second annual Academic Awards Banquet and Honor Society Inductions Ceremony will be held. Letters were mailed home to all students who will be honored at this ceremony. RSVPs for the dinner and ceremony should be sent to the main office by Thursday, November 10. |
First Marking Period Ending
The first marking period ends on Friday, November 4. Report cards will be available for pick-up and teachers will be available for conferences on Thursday, November 17 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm and 6:00 - 8:00 pm. The first Ed-line update of the second marking period will be posted by teachers by November 20.
With the start of the second marking period comes the winter dress code. Polo shirts can no longer be worn until the spring. Gentlemen are to wear shirt and tie and ladies are to wear blouses. |

On November 13, Notre Dame students and parents will be traveling to Boston College to participate in the SPLASH program. Students have enrolled in a variety of interesting and unique courses such as Social Issues in Disney Movies, Explosive Chemistry, and Hip Hop/New Glory/Glitch Choreography. The Champion Available in Softcover
Mr. St.Onge is pleased to announce that his novel, The Champion, is now available in softcover! The price of the softcover version is $15, but Notre Dame students and members of the ND 'extended family' can purchase The Champion for $10. Key Club's Thanksgiving Turkey Drive
The Key Club's Thanksgiving Turkey Drive has begun! The Key Club is responsible for collecting 300 frozen turkeys for needy area families. If you see a great sale or get a free turkey from work, please keep us in mind. If you would like to donate a frozen turkey please email Mrs. Miller or Ms. Zembrzuski.
Please drop off turkeys to ND on November 18.

Football
ND Football is home this weekend versus Weston.
Winter Sports Try-Outs
Girls' Basketball try-outs begin on Monday, November 21 at 3:00 pm in the gym..remember in order to try-out, students need an up-to-date physical on file with the nurse as well as a parental consent form on file with Mr. Bleggi.
Boys' Basketball will begin on Monday, November 28.
Boys' Ice Hockey will begin on Monday, November 28 at 6:00 pm at the Milford Ice Pavilion. There will be a meeting for all players on Sunday, November 27 at 5:00 pm at the Milford Ice Pavilion. Players can bring their hockey bags to the meeting.
Indoor Track will begin on Monday, November 28 at 2:15 pm.
Girls' Ice Hockey starts on Monday, November 14 at 5:15 pm at the Milford Ice Pavilion.
The Fencing Team will begin practices at the end of November.
Basketball Conditioning
The girls' basketball staff is running a strength and conditioning program every Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30 pm through Thursday, November 20. All girls interested in basketball are welcome.

Booster Club Wine Tasting Event
The ND All Sports Booster Club is sponsoring a wine tasting event with Townline Wine & Spirits, 475 Hawley Lane, Stratford on Saturday, December 3 from 7:00 pm-10:00 pm in the ND cafeteria. Join us for a fun night of wine & beer tasting and an opportunity to mix & mingle with other ND parents, faculty, alumni & friends! The night will include 10 wine tables, 2 beer tables & light appetizers. Everyone is welcome: invite your family, friends, co-workers. Tickets are $25 in advance ($35 @ the door). The Care Club has two projects going until Thanksgiving. In conjunction with the Lions' Club we are collecting used eyeglasses, frames and cases. They will be given to people in need.
Both items can be left in boxes in the library.
Once again, we are collecting cell phones. They will be reconstructed to 911 and given to women and men whose lives may be in danger. Our drive two years ago was highly successful and we hope to see a repeat.
