He also assured that each voter was aware of their polling place and asked if any transportation to the polls was needed.

Invisible Children Assembly
On Monday, representatives from Invisible Children visited Notre Dame. The student body viewed a screening of the film Tony, which documents the story of a young man growing up in North Uganda, affected by Africa's long time conflict in which children are kidnapped and forced to fight in the rebel army. Invisible Children, based in California, seeks to raise awareness of this issue. The program had a very meaningful impact upon the ND community.

Notre Dame Fall Open House

Notre Dame's fall Open House for prospective students will be held on Sunday, October 16 at 2:00 p.m. Tours will be offered starting at 1:00 p.m. Please spread the word and encourage friends and family to attend. An entrance exam for eighth grade applicants will be given on Saturday, October 22 at 8:30 a.m. Please contact the Admissions Office at (203) 372-6521 or admissions@notredame.org for further information.

Notre Dame Walk-a-thon

Our annual Walkathon will take place on Monday, October 17.  Don't forget to send in your walkathon donations.  We need everyone's help to make this year's event a success!
Home School Association
The Home School Association will be sponsoring a clothing drive fundraiser on Saturday, October 15 from 8 am - 3 pm.  Clean out those closets and bring in your used (and clean) clothing, shoes and accessories.  All items should be put into tied plastic garbage bags.  Notre Dame will receive thirteen cents for every pound collected.  Tell your friends, family and neighbors.  If you have any questions, please contact our Home School President, Jennifer Searles at poohmets@aol.com.
Booster Club News
SAVE THE DATE!  The ND Booster Club is having a wine tasting on Saturday, December 3 from 7-10 pm.  Gather up a bunch of your friends and join us for a fun night. This is a great way to start off the holiday season. Wine makes great hostess gifts for those festive holiday get togethers! Beer will also be available to taste. Everyone welcome! More details to come.

Freshman and Transfer Students Welcome Mass

There will be a Welcome Mass and Breakfast for Freshmen and Transfer students and their families on Sunday, October 23 at 10:15 am.  Please RSVP to the Advancement Office at marzik@notredame.org.

Athletic Department Update

Girls' Basketball Conditioning
The girls' basketball staff will be running a strength and conditioning program starting on October 11 at 6:30 pm.  It will be held every Tuesday and Thursday night through Thursday, November 20.  All girls interested in basketball are welcome.

Care Club

The Care Club has two projects going until Thanksgiving.  In conjunction with the Lions' Club we are collecting used eyeglasses, frames and cases. They will be given to people in need.

Both items can be left in boxes in the library.

Once again, we are collecting cell phones. They will be reconstructed to 911 and given to women and men whose lives may be in danger.  Our drive two years ago was highly successful and we hope to see a repeat.

ND's Lancer Legacy Gala & Auction

Notre Dame's Lancer Legacy Gala & Auction will take place on November 9 at The Waterview in Monroe. Invitations have been mailed and we hope you are able to attend this important and special event!

The night will include a silent auction as well as a cocktail hour, dinner and an awards program honoring Stephen and Mary Ann Nemergut - Carole Christy Surina Educator Award, Dr. Margaret Dames - Sister Marion Rielly Leadership Award, William Roberti - Notre Dame Community Impact Award, and Athletic Hall of Fame inductees - Paul Fabbri, Evan Bowen, Randy Gress, and Juan Serrano.

The Gala/Auction Committee is looking for auction donations. Items on their wishlist include:

Gift cards to area stores and restaurants, gas gift cards, airfare gift cards, ipad II, Mac or PC laptop, Ferry tickets, wine, Kindle or Nook 2, Broadway tickets, Chef demonstrations/tastings or cooking lessons, hotel stays, NYC restaurant or hotel gift certificates, professional sports tickets, books signed by the author, Foxwoods and/or Mohegan Sun hotel stays, vacation getaways, use of timeshares, concert tickets...

We are also looking for area businesses to sponsor our event or purchase ad space in our program book. Also, please don't forget that we are asking each family to donate $10 toward a class basket.  We will be making a theme basket for each of the four classes:  freshmen, sophomore, junior and senior.  These baskets will make a great addition to our silent auction.

Participation from all families will be the key to our success. Please take a little time to think what you would like to do to make this a wonderful evening. We will be accepting auction items, sponsorships and program ads any time between now and November 1. The earlier the better!  For more information, if you have any questions, or would like to help with the event, please contact Theresa Marzik at (203) 372-6521 or marzik@notredame.org.

The Champion Fundraiser
