Football Team Mass
Fr. Cipriani
celebrated a team mass for the coaches and players of the football team in the ND Chapel on Wednesday evening September 15.

  

Renaissance Faire
Fr. Cipriani
and Miss Mercado took a group of students to the Renaissance Faire in Tuxedo, New York on Saturday, September 17. The group included: Jacqueline Rzasa '12, Mary Boyle '12, Morgan Sweeney '15, Geissy Bitencourt '12, Megan Pace '12, Jillian Gelmetti '14, Margarita Vorobieva '12.

  

Suicide Awareness Walk
On Sunday, September 18, members of Campus Ministry participated in the Suicide Awareness Walk in Brookfield. Participants gathered for mass in the ND Chapel where Megan Carrion '09 spoke about her brother who she lost to suicide during her freshman year. A total of $350 was raised for the event. Thanks to all for your generosity. Participants included: Brittany Santos '12, Margarita Vorobieva '12, Caitlyn Campodonico '12, Michael Martinsky '12, David Malvicini '12, Stephen Meyer '13, Daniel Tozzi '12, Alex Audet '12, Meghan Gless '14 and Roberto Tomassini '12.

Touch a Truck
On Sunday, September 18, members of Campus Ministry voulunteered their time at the second annual Touch-a-Truck event at  Fairfield Ludlowe High School. They spent their day playing big brothers and big sisters to the kids who attended the event. The event featured more than 20 vehicles for youngsters (and adults) to explore and helped to raise funds for the The Junior Women's Club of Fairfield Scholarship Fund.  Participants included: Amanda Marini '12, Christina Rodriguez '12, Joseph D'Amico '14 and Austin Camacho '14.

CIAC Sportsmanship Conference     

On Thursday, September 22, Nnamdi Gogoh '12, Spencer Gerwein '12, Bianka Bell '12, and Rachel Dorosh '12, joined Notre Dame Athletic Director Mr. Bleggi '93 at the annual CIAC Sportsmanship Conference at the Aqua Turf. The program is designed to promote and reinforce the theme "Sportsmanship is Everyone's Responsibility" and the enhancement of sportsmanship at all middle and high school athletic events. The program featured motivational speaker Harvey Alston.

Notre Dame Wins The Michael's Cup     

Notre Dame was presented with the prestigious Michael's Cup at the CIAC Sportsmanship Conference. The Michael's Cup recognizes schools who continually provide exemplary athletic programs. The CIAC defines "exemplary" as athletic participation, academic success, equitable opportunities, trained and professional personnel, chemical-free programs and environment, athletic achievement and a clear sense of sportsmanship marked by high ethical and moral standards.

Grandparents Mass and Reception   





  On Monday, September 19, twenty five grandparents joined their grandchildren (current Notre Dame students) for mass celebrated by Fr. Cipriani and a reception. Special thanks to Advancement Director Theresa Marzik, Denise Ayala from the Admissions Office and Booster Club President Kathy Stefanatos for their help in organizing the reception. Additional thanks to the grandparents who took time out to spend sometime with their grandchildren at Notre Dame.

College Essay Workshop       

Mr. Sulzycki will lead a college essay workshop for interested seniors on Tuesday, October 4. This will be a hands-on workshop, so students should bring their application essay topics and be ready to brainstorm and draft their essays.  The session will be held in Room 207 during period H. If you are interested and cannot attend or have questions, please send an email to sulzycki@notredame.org

Prudential Spirit of Comminity Awards

Glee Club     

Auditions for the after school Glee Club will take place on Tuesday, September 27 at 2:00 p.m. in the music room.  All Mass singers must attend.

Athletic Department       

ND Football
The varsity football team will play Barlow at home on Saturday, September 24 at 1:00 pm. Come support the team! 

 

Fencing Club

There will be an informational meeting on Wednesday, September 28 at 2:00 pm in Room 201 for any students interested in the formation of the ND Fencing Team.

 

Boys' & Girls' Hockey

There will be a mandatory meeting on Wednesday, September 28 at 7:30 pm in the cafe for all students interested in playing varsity and JV boys' hockey and varsity girls' hockey this year. A parent/guardian must attend the meeting.  If you cannot attend, please see Mr. Bleggi.

Lancer Legacy Gala & Auction
Notre Dame's first Gala & Auction will take place on November 9 at The Waterview in Monroe.  

The night will include a silent auction as well as dinner and an awards program honoring -- Stephen and MaryAnn Nemergut - Carole Christy Surina Educator Award, Dr. Margaret Dames - Sister Marion Rielly Leadership Award, William Roberti - Notre Dame Community Impact Award. In addition, Paul Fabbri, Evan Bowen, Randy Gress, and Juan Serrano will be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame.

 

The Gala/Auction Committee is looking for auction donations. On their wish list is: gift cards to area stores and restaurants, airfare gift cards, ipad II, Mac or PC laptops, ferry tickets, wine, Kindles, Nook 2, Broadway tickets, flat screen televisions, chef demonstrations or cooking lessons, hotel stays in New York City, NYC restaurant gift certificates, professional sports tickets, books signed by the author, Foxwoods and/or Mohegan Sun hotel stays, golf clubs,  weekend getaways, use of timeshares, concert tickets, luggage, Superbowl or playoff tickets, Chef's tastings, vineyard trips.

 

Please take a little time to think what you would like to do to make this a wonderful evening. We will be accepting auction items and program ads any time between now and November 1. ND Booster Club

The ND All Sports Booster Club is pleased to announce their first fundraiser of the year.  We will be launching our new line of spirit wear this Saturday at 1:00 pm at our first home football game. Start the season out right with great NEW ND apparel.
Good Looks, Good Health: A Teen Health Expo
The Connecticut Nurse's Foundation is presenting an afternoon of fun and learning for teens on how to look your best from the inside-out.  Entitled, Good  Looks, Good Health: A Teen Health Expo, the program will be beneficial for students, educators, parents, and health care professionals.  The event will be held at Fairfield University's Quick Center of the Arts on  October 2 and is sponsored by the Stamford Hospital in Stamford, CT.  There  will be several workshops, including one on preparing healthy, delicious  snacks.  There will also be an exercise demonstration called Zumbatomics, specifically  geared for teenagers.  Please visit www.CTNursesFoundation.org for more information.

Financial Aid Workshop
Notre Dame will be offering a college financial aid planning workshop for parents of juniors and seniors on Monday, September 26 at 7:00 pm.
