... Sarah Baldwin '11 on her internship with the Beardsley Zoo education department to gain experience working with animals.

... Billie Bertier '12  and Jamilla Pommills '12 who from February 10 - 25 participated in the Build On Trek for Knowledge. Billie and Jamilla helped a group build a school in La Chiminilla, Nicaragua. More than the direct experience of the service, the girls had an experience of a lifetime, learning about what it is like to live in an impoverished community so different than where they come from.
Campus Ministry Senior Retreat
On Friday, March 4, the senior class attended their class retreat for the day at Sacred Heart University. The theme was "Looking Back, Moving Forward".  Members of the SHU Campus Ministry Program coordinated most of the retreat which included a variety of speakers addressing those relevant issues that our soon-to-be-graduates might keep in mind for the future.  Several seniors also delivered talks to their classmates reflecting upon the impact the last four years at Notre Dame have had upon them individually and as a class.  These speakers were Maggie Fallon, Eric Segrue, Ben Cohen, Sileanna Pizzaro, Jaclyn Bria, and Fred Nevins.  The atmosphere of the retreat was very enthusiastic, fun and reflective.  The seniors truly did a remarkable and amazing job participating in their retreat with great energy and respect. The day concluded with a class mass in the Sacred Heart Chapel and plenty of Palanca letters from family and friends.

A very special word of thanks and praise for Miss Medoff who coordinated the lion's share of the retreat work on the ND- side.  Also, thank you to all of the senior parents and families who wrote letters.  It was a very special part of the retreat and students were very touched to receive the testimonies of love.
Another big thank you to Amy Dion, Sam Dowd, and the Sacred Heart Campus Ministry Team who ran the day.

Care Club News
Thank you to all who donated items to our "Project from the Heart".  We received a large amount of goods for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Co-presidents Brittany Barstein '11 and Julian Hylton '11 delivered the goods and had the opportunity to meet a serviceman, John Julian, who had been the recipient of a box and was helping to pack boxes prior to his return to another round of service in Afghanistan.  Coincidentally, John informed us his father, John Julian, Sr., is a Notre Dame grad.

The Care Club's Lenten project began on Ash Wednesday and we could use your assistance.  We are looking for cell phones people no longer need - in good or even unusable condition.  They will be reconditioned to 911 numbers and given (free of charge) to women who live in dangerous situations.  If wires and battery packs are available, we accept them, also.  Items can be left in the library.
