The ND French IV/AP class recently celebrated "Le Jour de Ste. Catherine" [St. Catherine's Day] and being a "Catherinette", a young women of 25 years or less who has not yet found a husband! According to tradition, this first began in the Middle Ages in honor of this Saint who lived during the 3rd century, and young women make and wear extravagant yellow and green hats that represent who they are in the hopes of finding a husband!
St. Catherine is also the patron Saint of theologians, philosophers, orators, notaries, students, plumbers, tailors, craftsmen, lace makers, milliners ... It is also said that St. Catherine, along with St. Margaret and St. Michael, visited Joan of Arc.
