Congratulations to Sam Halstead '14 whose letter to the editor "Merritt's character being destroyed" was recently published in the Fairfield Minuteman
 
Dr. Rob DeSimone, Notre Dame chemistry teacher, was included in a recent article in Chemical Education Today. Dr. DeSimone is chairing an event, to be held at Notre Dame on January 8th, at which legendary investigator Dr. Henry Lee, who is a pioneer in the use of modern forensic evidence in the classroom, will speak.  Click here for more information about the event.

Campus Ministry Update
On Sunday, December 5, Campus Ministry members went with Father Cip and Miss Medoff to St. Raphael's School in Bridgeport to help run their lunch with Santa.  Students helped preschool through third graders make Christmas crafts, visit with Santa, and eat lunch.  Volunteers included Lauren Fleming '11, Denise Bahr '11, Alex Audet '12, Amanda Marini '12, Medjine Jean-Jacques '12, Sara Figueroa '13, Corinna Santos '12, Theo Tumba '12, Danielle Bahr '12, Michael Coppolo '13, Cassie Picard '12, Daniella Paiva '12, Amanda Silbert '13, and Taylor Springer '13. 


On Tuesday, December 7, Campus Ministry members played big brother or sister for the day as they treated St. Augustine School's first graders from Bridgeport to a showing of Frosty the Snowman at the Downtown Cabaret.  Participants included Eli Maynoldi '13, Maria Delgado '13, Amanda Supple '12, Aly Furgiuele '13, Allison Rohr '13, Michelle Zentarski '11, Jessica Harper '11, Meghan Castillo '11, Natalie Cafasso '11, Ashley Sylvester '11, Brittany Perez '11, Nick Pond '14, Morgan Cianelli '12, Josephine Coiscou '12, Alice Grace Dailey '12, Sereina Colon '12, and Monique Plummer '11.

On Wednesday, December 8, the Notre Dame community celebrated the Immaculate Conception with two masses.  One was held for freshmen and sophomores and the other for juniors and seniors.  Special thanks to those students who served, read, and brought up gifts: Christian Hock '11, Dianne Gutierrez '11, Ben Cohen '11, Paula Bannon '11, John Ross '11, Mary Boyle '12, Megan Pace '12, Amanda Marini '12, Brendan Wardlow '13, Steve Cavallo '13, Caitlin Dudek '13, Shannon Williams '14, Jennifer Mezzapelle '14, Jaclyn Wainwright '14, Jasmine Fuller '14, and Austin Camacho '14.
ND Hits The Airwaves
ND Productions recently began broadcasting the morning announcements over the televisions at Notre Dame. Thanks to the leadership of RJ Cremin '13, a group of dedicated students have worked hard to construct their studio, hold auditions and begin recording Notre Dame events. Using a rotation of "anchors", the students broadcast important daily announcements to the student body each morning. The students involved in the group include: RJ Cremin '13, Steve Meyer '13, Matt Tolster '13, Tom Bergamasco '13, Julian Hylton '11, Charlie Fallon '14, Kevin Bradley '14, Spencer Gerwein '12, David Malvicini '12, Tre Bethel '13, Mike Martinsky '12, Allison Rohr '13 and Mike Lenard '13.
Excellent Opportunity for Juniors/Seniors

Scholarships Available
The Connecticut Council of Outward Bound is offering merit-based scholarships for students ages 15-17. Interested sophomores and juniors can apply for a scholarship to the Outward Bound Youth Leadership Corps for the summer of 2011. For more information, visit www.OutwardBound.org
News From the Guidance Office
On Tuesday, December 7, a representative from Sacred Heart University was at Notre Dame interviewing students from the Class of 2011.  In some cases, an offer of acceptance was made right at the conclusion of their interview.  Congratulations to all the students who were interviewed and accepted!
Last Week for Coat Drive 
The Spanish Honor Society is sponsoring a school-wide Coat Drive.  Winter coats or jackets are needed.  The Drive will last until December 17.  All coats will be distributed to the poor.
