Happy Thanksgiving
As we prepare to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, we'd like to thank you for your support of Notre Dame Fairfield. The many sacrifices our families make to send their children to Notre Dame certainly does not go unnoticed; it is greatly appreciated. The entire Notre Dame faculty and staff is grateful for all of our families and all you do to make this school so great.
If you haven't done so already, please click here to read Mr. Cipriano's update on the many great things that have already happened at Notre Dame so far this year. We wish you a great Thanksgiving holiday.

Congratulations to...
Congratulations to Matt Tolster '13 who has become a member of the Bridgeport Police Department Explorers Post, which started in June. The Post meets at the Bridgeport Police Training Academy every Monday evening and the Explorers do a great deal of public service. Their latest endeavor was volunteering at a fund raiser for the fallen Bridgeport firefighters, in order to build a memorial in front of City Hall. Police Explorers in the US have been in existence since 1968 and is a co-ed part of the Boy Scouts of America. It is a four year program that brings the youth through various facets of law enforcement through tactical training, public service, etc. The group that Matt is with is headed up by a number of Bridgeport police officers. The Bridgeport Explorers Post is very proud to have Matt as part of the program, as he is the grandson of a retired Bridgeport police officer, Robert Hreschak (father of ND alumna Roberta Hreschak Tolster '75).
Congratulations also go out to the following students who received the Sacrament of Confirmation this week at the parish of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Oxford: Zachary Dobbins '13, Lauren Jones '13, Brandon Pavlik '13, and Kayleigh Spataj '13.
Congratulations to Caitlin Shea-Vantine '11 who has been selected as the ND recipient of the Daughter's of the American Revolution Good Citizen award. This prestigious program encourages and rewards the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. Caitlin is now eligible for a scholarship awarded by the DAR.

School Postural Screening Program
A postural screening program to detect a possible curvature of the spine will be conducted for students in grade nine on Monday, December 6. Postural screening is required for students in grades five through nine according to Connecticut State Law. If your child wishes to be screened wearing a two-piece bathing suit or gym/boxer shorts, please be sure he/she comes to school prepared on the screening day. Screening is done individually and each child is afforded privacy during the screening. Please note that if your child has a health assessment on record at school which was done during this school year, i.e., on or after July 1st, and indicates that your child was examined for postural deformity by his/her health care provider, your child will not be screened in school. If you have any questions, please contact the school nurse. |
School Cancellations/Delays
Since Notre Dame is a regional school with students from approximately 34 communities, cancellations or delays will be determined by weather conditions in our entire region. The same procedure exists if school is delayed or cancelled for a non weather-related problem.
All families will receive an automated phone call through the ConnectEd service notifying you of a late opening or closing. You can also listen specifically on the radio or TV for the name of Notre Dame Fairfield for cancellation/delay information, NOT the name of a specific city or town. When Fairfield and/or Bridgeport cancels or delays schools, Notre Dame will also cancel or delay.
School cancellations, late openings, or early dismissals will be announced on the following television stations: Channels 3, 8, 12, and 30 and on the following radio stations: WICC 600, WEBE 108, STAR 99, and WNLK/WEFX-Norwalk. |
Delayed Opening Bus Information
For students who live in FAIRFIELD and use busing provided by the town: Residents should listen to the radio and follow the Fairfield schedule for delayed openings. If Fairfield delays, busing will run according to that schedule - usually a 2 hour delay. If Fairfield does NOT delay and Notre Dame DOES delay, Fairfield buses will run on their regular schedule. The school will be open for these students.
For students who live in surrounding communities and use Notre Dame-provided busing (Fairfield and Winkle buses): All N.D. buses will begin their routes according to the delay. To determine your bus schedule on delayed openings, simply add the "delay time" to your regular pick up time. For example, if your regular pick-up time is 6:30 a.m., and there is a two hour delayed opening, your pick-up time is 8:30 a.m.
For students who use Bridgeport Transit Authority Busing: When a delay occurs, Bridgeport Transit Authority buses will follow their regular schedules. The school will be open for your arrival at about 7:30 a.m. Also, you may take later buses to the Trumbull shopping mall and transfer to the Park Avenue bus (#4) to school. |
