The Care Club continues to collect donations for their "Project From the Heart". They are seeking donations of non-perisable items for our armed forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. All donations can be brought to the library.

Campus Ministry Update
Campus Ministry sponsored the Freshman Class Retreat last Friday.  The theme was Faith Survival Skills and the freshmen spent the day together participating in icebreakers, hearing great guest speakers (Lauren Halpin '08 and John Puskar '06), listening to a student from Sacred Heart play the guitar, attending mass, and watching a movie.  The retreat team included the following juniors and seniors: Raven Carafano '12, Brittany Perez '11, Arkel Miles '12, Eamonn Monks '11, Geissy Bitencourt '12, Alex Audet '12, Monique Plummer '11, Christina Rodrigues '12, Rachel Dorosh '12, AJ Gallucci '11, Lilly Staudt '11, Bonnie Broome '11, Maggie Fallon '11, Dianne Gutierrez '11, Christian Hock '11, Mary Boyle '12, Brittany Barstein, Tracey Kamlani '11, Ben Cohen '11, Marcus Ortiz '11, and Lauren Crispino '11.
News from the Chaplain
Fr. Cipriani took a group of students down to Stamford to participate in a LIfe Chain, a prayerful witness to choosing and celebrating the gift of life. The students stood for an hour along the main roads silently holding signs, hoping to make a difference.  
 
 
On Saturday night, Fr. Cipriani took a group of students to Manhattan for a prayer service followed by live entertainment.   This event is called The Catholic Underground.  Those who attended were: Arkel Miles '12, Mary Boyle '12, Giessy Bittencourt '12,  Amanda Reay '14, Raven Carofano '12, Rachel Hiatt '12 and Dymond Leroy '14.
Homecoming Weekend
Homecoming Weekend will take place Friday, October 22nd through Sunday, October 24th.  Activities planned are: 
 
Student Homecoming Dance - Friday, October 22nd. This is a semiformal dance for all students.
 
Homecoming Adult Social - Saturday, October 23rd - 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. - Sacred Heart University Pitt Center Skybox - $20.00 per person includes beer, wine, soda, and hors d'oeuvres.  Reservations are 
required -- please contact Theresa Marzik by October 20th.
 
Homecoming Football Game - Saturday, October 23rd - 7:00 pm.  Cheer on our Notre Dame Lancers as they play Oxford under the lights at Sacred Heart University.  Let's go Lancers!!!
 
Sister Marion Rielly Mass and Breakfast - Sunday, October 24th -10:00 a.m.  Celebrate this annual tradition at ND.  Join us for Mass and Breakfast. 
Walk-a-thon and Field Day 
Notre Dame's annual Walk-a-thon and Field Day will take place on October 23rd.  This is a half day for our students.  The day will begin with a 4 mile walk around the ND campus followed by field day activities in which classes will compete against one another for class bragging rights.  Refreshments will be available for purchase throughout the event.  Parents and students are reminded that each family is encouraged to raise $75 in walk-a-thon donations (information packets were mailed home last week).  Parent volunteers are also needed to help with the day's activities.  Please contact Theresa Marzik at

Student Ambassadors Wanted
We are looking for students who exemplify what Notre Dame is all about.  Are you willing to get the word out to the community about all the great things we have going on?  Do you fit this mold?  Do you think you can help us in recruiting and sharing the news of Notre Dame to the public?  If so, you should consider becoming a Student Ambassador!

Freshman Vision Testing
Freshman will be having their vision tested on Thursday, October 14th and Friday, October 15th.  Please be sure anyone who wears glasses brings them to school that day.
Principal's Advisory Council
The following students attended the first meeting of the Principal's Advisory Council on Tuesday, October 5: Taylor Borsari '11, Bonnie Broome '11, Natalie Cafasso '11, Dominise Carter '12, Meghan Cassidy '12, Steve Cavallo '13, Morgan Cianelli '12, Meghan Corvington '12, Alice Grace Dailey '12, Jannell Dillon '11, Maggie Fallon '11, Chris Glifort '11, Julian Hylton '11, Medjine Jean-Jacques '12, Lauren Jones '13, Jhennelle Lee '12, Michael Lenard '13, Chelsea Lipscomb '12, Kelsey Senteio '12, Annie Sutila '11. These students all submitted an application and had the opportunity to share their ideas, thoughts and concerns with Mr. Cipriano. This group will meet monthly.

Notre Dame Lancer Literary Circle
The Notre Dame Lancer Literary Circle,  ND's parent book club, will meet again on Wednesday, October 28th at 7:00 pm in the library.  Currently the group is reading Three Weeks with My Brother by Nicholas and Micah Sparks. Join us on the 28th ... new members are always welcome.

Bus Payments
Just a reminder that the first installment of bus payments are now past due (October 1st).
Opt-out
Any parent who wishes to not have their child's picture in any location on the N.D. website or in N.D.'s promotional materials should send an email to Mr. Cipriano at cipriano@notredame.org by Friday, October 15th with the child's name and "opt-out" in the subject line.
Ed-Line Update
Parent activation codes have been mailed home for all families to access weekly Ed-Line academic updates. Teachers have already posted their first progress reports. The next update, due to the early October academic schedule, will be by October 17.

The Town of Fairfield Health Department
The Town of Fairfield Health Department provides teeth cleaning and topical fluoride treatments for students meeting income guidelines. Applications for this service are due by October 12. Information will be included in the October tuition mailing.
