Dog Safety Tips for the Summer Months
Fireworks and Your Dog
Every year on the 4th of July animal shelters around the country see a huge upsurge of lost pets. There are more lost dogs on the 4th of July than any other time of the year. For the full article click on the link. 4th of July Safety TipsPreventing Heatstroke
Dogs are much more susceptible to heat stroke or hyperthermia than humans. And some breeds of dogs are more susceptible than other dogs such as short nosed breeds like pugs, boxers and bulldogs. Dogs can only sweat through their paws and by panting which is not very efficient. So during hot weather we need to take precautions and monitor our dogs for the effects that heat can have on them. For the full article click on the link. Preventing Heatstroke for DogsCar Safety for your Dog
Nowadays most people would never think of traveling in their car without a seat belt for themselves or safety seats/restraints for their children but have no problem letting their dog travel loose in the car. We have all seen the dog in the back of a pick up traveling down the highway at 65 MPH or more, as well as the dog with his head hanging out the window of the family car. Izzy Needs a Home
I received the following email from a former client who needs help re-homing their dog.
"My name is Jaclyn Cho. My husband and I along with our dog Izzy took your dog training class about 5 years ago. Izzy is our 9-year old Lhaso Apso. We decided to take your class years ago because we were pregnant with our daughter. After a few sessions with you we saw a big difference in Izzy. We felt pretty confident about Izzy's behavioral changes when our daughter was born a few months later. My husband and I are writing to you to ask for your help. We've been in a very difficult situation these last few months. We'll be losing our home at the end of the next month and will be moving into a rental property that does not allow pets. We have written letters to the owners regarding reconsidering letting Izzy into the property. In spite our attempts, the owners have refused. On top of that, my husband and I will be expecting twins at the end of January. Our current situation has forced us into a very hard decision. We're hoping that you'll be able to help us or maybe even point us to the right people that can. We're looking for a new home for Izzy. We'll provide a whole year supply of his food along with his initial veterinary check up and grooming bills. We're looking for a new family for Izzy that will give him the love and attention that he deserves. It breaks our heart that we've fallen into some difficult times and will be unable to adequately provide for Izzy. He's been a part of our family for the last 9 years and we're hoping that the new family that decides to take him in can be able to show him the patience and understanding that he needs. Our 5-year old daughter is devastated at losing Izzy to another family. He is her best friend. But we promised her to find the best possible home for him. We hope that you'll be able to give us resolution to our dilemma. Please let us know if you'll be willing to help in anyway.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Best Regards, Jaclyn and Stephano Cho"
If you are interested please send me an email and I will pass it on to the Cho family. steve@dogsquad.biz
