Greetings!

Happy Valentines Day to all of our Dog Squad Family!

Thanks for all the email support I have received about the changes that have occurred recently at The Dog Squad with the departure of Patrick Gibbons.

I want reassure everyone that business is going on as usual and there will be no changes in the Park Classes and Services provided.

If you have trained with Patrick and have not finished your lessons please contact me to follow-up with you. You can contact me by email at steve@dogsquad.biz or call me at 510-632-6594.

New Collar Designed for Small Dogs
The Dogtra iQ
Skipper

Finally Dogtra has come out with a compact collar for small dogs!

This is a terrific addition to their product line of high quality e-collars.

The new iQ is one of the smallest, yet most powerful e-collars to be introduced in years. It features a 400-yard range and a 2-hour rapid charge batteries.

I have used the iQ with several clients and really like it's compact remote. It fits nicely in your hand and the dial for setting levels is easy to use.  It has a Nick, Continuous and Pager button which are placed nicely on the front of the transmitter and easy to access. The receiver box (collar) is almost half the size of the 200 and 300 collars. The levels seem to be about the same as the 200 and 300 collars and the only draw back is it's range of 400 yards as compared to a half mile with other similar Dogtra collars. However, for the majority of dogs 400 yards (4 football fields) is far enough.

If you have a small or medium dog this is a terrific collar to consider. I wouldn't hesitate to even use it with some larger dogs that work well with low or medium stimulation and do not need the extra range.  Also, did I mention the price is only $179.50!

For the month of February there is a 10% discount on the iQ. Go to dogsquadonlinestore.com to get yours today.
New Affiliation - DogWatch  Hidden Fences

The Dog Squad has recently changed it's affiliation for Dog Containment Systems to DogWatch Hidden Fences. We have changed our recommendation from Invisible Fence because we feel that DogWatch offers a product for pet containment that is superior to other national brands in a variety of ways and is more cost effective for our clients.

DogWatch of Northern California is owned and run by Troy Dykes who has been in business since 1996 serving the entire Bay Area region. Troy is a licensed contractor and an expert on training dogs and cats to the Hidden Fence.

The reasons that I changed from recommending Invisible Fence to DogWatch are as follows:
1. Superior Installation by a Licensed Contractor. DogWatch buries all of its wire so that the risk of a broken wire are minimized and they use top quality wire and tubing to protect the safety of your pet.
2. The DogWatch system uses standard batteries which decreases the costs of battery replacement. Battery costs for the DogWatch system average $10 every 2 years compared to Invisible Fence's cost of $60 per year.
3. The user can program their Transmitter and Receiver without having to call a service technician.
4. All DogWatch outdoor systems have a Lifetime Warranty.
5. The DogWatch system can typically cost between 10 to 20% less than Invisible Fence.
6. Superior Service, Training and follow-up by the owner of DogWatch Northern CA.

For the month of February DogWatch is offering a $50 discount if you call for an estimate and mention The Dog Squad.
