Operations
Check

Before You Load Your Sprayer

1.  Prior to filling the tank, check to confirm there are no residues left in the tank from the last application.
2.  Confirm the suction strainer and spray tip strainers are free of any debris.
3.  When checking the tip strainers check your spray tips for signs of wear.
4.  Make sure that your boom pivots and breakaway hinges are working and lubricate if needed.
5.  Partially fill your sprayer with clean water, start it up and increase your RPM to your normal operating level.
6. While under pressure, examine your sprayer for leaks, worn hoses or dripping valves.
7. Check that your agitation system is operating properly.
8. Start flow from the boom and inspect the spray tips for pattern, flow and output.

Use this quick check before you spray and insure a successful application each time you use your sprayer!

Metered Bypass - What does it do?

Many people ask us about the purpose of the red knobs on the motorized boom valves. If you've got a computerized spray system this does not apply. However, if you have a pressure based spray system with a boom, you may have a metered bypass system installed on your boom control valves.

When properly set, the metered bypass valves automatically adjust your spray pressure3PT when you shut off the flow to one or more boom sections. They are easy to set.

To adjust these valves start by closing all three knobs by turning each knob clockwise until they stop.

Partially fill your tank with clean water. Start your sprayer, turn on all three boom sections at the control panel, increase your engine RPM and then set your desired operating pressure.

To set the metered bypass valve, stop the flow to one section of your boom. Then turn the corresponding red knob counter-clockwise while watching the pressure gauge. When you've regained your beginning pressure the meter is set. Repeat the above for each boom section.

At this point your metered bypass is set and ready for use. You can test this by toggling off individual boom sections while checking the pressure gauge. You should see a short bump in pressure on the gauge then the pressure will stabilize. After setting, the valves shouldn't need readjustment unless you change your operating pressure or someone has messed with the knobs. Then you should recheck the metered bypass to confirm it is operating as expected, if not, take a minute or two and go back through the procedure.
All Function Control Box
3PT
The current version of our All Function Control Box is a very versatile accessory to your spray operation. This box offers the operator control of the basic functions of your sprayer along with the control of several accessories.

Using the liquid filled pressure gauge, you can easily monitor your application pressure. To the immediate left of the pressure gauge is the master on/off switch for instant control of your spray boom. The switch immediately to the right of the pressure gauge is the pressure bump and allows for small adjustments to your spray pressure. The switch to the right of the pressure bump controls the foam marking system. You can distribute foam to the left or right side, or using the orange button at the center bottom, can direct foam to both sides at the same time.

The green button on the right side of the box is the power switch. The three switches across the bottom of the panel on the left control the boom sections. The three switches at the bottom on the right control the electric lift actuators.

Everything you need to control your application is at your fingertips which is why we call it the All Function Control Box.
That's it for the latest edition of the SDI Email Newsletter. Keep sending in your comments and ideas!

Thanks!
