Charitable Shout Out!
Today nonprofits are struggling more than ever to make ends meet, and unemployment rates are in the double-digits. A worrysome dynamic. BUT...
What if there was a way to take advantage of these factors to benefit local organizations AND those searching for their next opportunity?
We are partnering with Kym Parks, Executive Director of the Clinton County United Way, to make this possible! Kym should be in touch with heads of local organizations soon to narrow down a date for an exciting event that will benefit all that choose to take advantage.

Green Enterprise Grant Program A National First!
On July 16, 2009 the City Council of Wilmington, Ohio made history by unanimously approving an ordinance that established Wilmington as the nation's first "Green Enterprise Zone (GEZ)." WATCH VIDEO
Spearheaded by Energize Clinton County, the innovative legislation is meant to stimulate green investment and job creation as part of economic re-development efforts following the DHL pullout. The vision is to increase energy and material efficiency to new and existing structures within the City, promote and support related job-training initiatives, and build local capacity and expertise in such efficiences and implementation of new energy technologies.
Since the summer, the Green Enterprise Zone Development Council (GEZDC) was formed to administer the Green Enterprise Grant (GEG) Application Program. The announcement and release of GEG materials was made on January 25, 2010 at a community meeting.
Both businesses and non-profit corporations within the City of Wilmington are eligible for the program. Qualifying projects might include an energy audit, installation of new lighting systems, and replacement of heating/cooling systems. Approximately $25,000.00 has been made available for this grant cycle (those located within the County may qualify for State or Federal programs).
Applications can be obtained from the Mayor's Office, and will soon be available online. Completed proposals should be submitted to the Office of the Mayor no later than 4:00pm on March 19, 2010.
Representatives from Culturally Connected were in attendance at the informational meeting, and are happy to be a resource to assist those interested in preparing their GEG applications.

Pass the Goodness Buy One, Give One
Local Loyalty programs are popping up all over the nation, and are seeing great success.
The Buy Local First Clinton County campaign has been gaining traction, and looks to offer promise to the local economy for 2010. While Culturally Connected makes every effort to support local merchants, there are some lifely factors that take us all out of our home communities...
If you must go outward, there is a purchase option that still allows you to support folks in Clinton County!
Caribou Coffee offers the following promotion until February 28, 2010:
"Buy a ¼, ½ or 1 pound bag of our Pass the Goodness Blend or any coffee to donate and we will take it to the Wilmington Food Pantry (Your Father's Kitchen) where it will be given out in Food Baskets." That is taken right from their store sign.
A meeting took me out of town yesterday, and I happened to visit a Caribou location. They were very friendly, and helped me donate a half-pound of the "Pass the Goodness" blend. Locations that offer this opportunity: (Find Directions Here)
Cincinnati Area - Anderson/Beechmont, Blue Ash, Cox Road, Union Centre.
Columbus Area - Arlington, Grandview, Heath, Huntington Bank, Lane Aveue.
