MIXING IT UP IN THE NEW YEAR
Has your progress in THE GYM slowed to a grinding halt?  Are you bored of the same workout routine you've been using for weeks, months or years?  Well, the New Year is a great time to mix it up and start making progress by utilizing 2 basic peices of equipment that will not only take the boredom out of your workouts, but also help increase muscle, strength and power.

Ball Chest PressTHE STABILITY BALL is your first weapon in your new workout program.  Not only will the stability ball make your workouts more interesting, but it will take any exercise that you normally perform on a bench (i.e. dumbbell bench press) and make

it twice as challenging.  Not only will you be working the main muscle groups of the exercise (chest, shoulders, triceps), but it brings your core muscles (abdominals, lower back) and stabilizers (glutes, hamstrings, calves, rotator cuff muscles, hip flexors) into the exercise.  Without you realizing it, you are burning more calories because you are utilizing more muscles.  This exercise will also help increase your core strength, balance and stability.

Medicine Ball ExerciseThe second new weapon in your arsenal will be a MEDICINE BALLThese are weighted balls that have many uses, the main use to develop explosive power.  Many professional athletes utilize medicine balls in their training regimens.  Depending upon the exercise, medicine balls require you to use a lot of muscle to complete the movement, which will lead to increases in both muscular strength and power.  Not only do you utilize your major muscle groups, but also your core muscles and stabilizer muscles.  Some of the best uses of the medicine ball are throwing and catching exercises as your core muscles come into play to help generate all your power.
