Do these performance rating distributions look familiar?
The reasons behind them are probably familiar to you as well:
- Managers are uncomfortable giving candid feedback so they assign lenient,
inflated ratings instead.
- Performance goals are set at a 'low bar' - too little effort and talent is required
for their achievement.
