TestimonialI enjoy the flexibility and the opportunities...

MariahI have been with Staffing Resources since September, 2008 and have really enjoyed all of my assignments with the best companies in Gwinnett and the surrounding area.

I enjoy the flexibility and the opportunities of learning new skills with different companies.  In my experience Staffing Resources is classier than the other companies and you always know exactly what is expected from you and what you need to do for the company where you are placed.

I am very thankful for their diligence from Jeanne and Dodie while they find me the next great opportunity.  They are always there to answer any questions that I might have.

While most jobs are unstable at this time, I have always felt confident that I will have a great position waiting for me here.

Labor Day Parade
On September 5, 1882, some 10,000 workers assembled in New York City to participate in America's first Labor Day parade. After marching from City Hall, past reviewing stands in Union Square, and then uptown to 42nd Street, the workers and their families gathered in Wendel's Elm Park for a picnic, concert, and speeches. This first Labor Day celebration was eagerly organized and executed by New York's Central Labor Union, an umbrella group made up of representatives from many local unions.  Debate continues to this day as to who originated the idea of a workers' holiday, but it definitely emerged from the ranks of organized labor at a time when they wanted to demonstrate the strength of their burgeoning movement and inspire improvements in their working conditions.

ResumeHow to Craft a Compelling Resume...

Unless you have more than 10 years of experience, your resume should be no longer than one page. Use a simple layout.

1.  Know what you want. Compose a clearly stated job objective. State what you want to do, for whom, where, and at what level of responsibility.

2.  Stand out from the crowd. Instead of just listing your job skills, describe the benefits and results of your performance. For each permanent job or staffing assignment, develop a list of major accomplishments, placing the most emphasis on your recent achievements. What problems or challenges have you faced? What actions did you take to overcome them? How did your actions benefit the company? Keep in mind that most companies value workers who enhance profits and save time and money.

3.  Sell yourself. You only have one shot to make a great impression. Your resume is a word picture of yourself. Showcase your strengths and one or two outstanding skills or abilities. List your education, training, and any relevant awards.

4.  Never list the reasons for termination or leaving a job on the resume. The reader can find negative connotations for even the best reason. You're far better off explaining employment lapses in person.

5.  Make sure the resume and the cover letter are error-free. Proofread, and have others proofread them, too. Make your resume understandable by avoiding jargon and using plain English.
