Arabian Racing Update:
From the Track to the Classroom
The Jerry Partin Purina Oaks was contested on August 11 at Arapahoe Park in Aurora, Colorado. Seven fillies went to the post for the 1-mile and 70 yard test. The added 70 yards was to give the field a bit more time to get sorted out before the first turn. The extra space didn't help eventual winner, Dancelildiamond (Line Dancer x Djewell) who was caught four wide under leading rider Adrian Ramos. The duo had only two horses beat by the time the field had ran a quarter mile. Read more here. On Friday, September 21 at 2:00 p.m., Arabian Jockey Club (AJC) Racing Committee Chair, Kathy Smoke will join a panel with Martha Murdock and Lynn Ashby to talk about racing, endurance, and dressage at the Arabian Horse Celebration in Louisville, Kentucky. Don't miss this opportunity to find out more about Arabian racing and its continued growth!

Take Advantage of this Opportunity to Continue Your Education
Take advantage of the Judges & Exhibitors School, December 6-8, in Scottsdale, Ariz. Students of the Judges & Exhibitors School are future judges, horse show exhibitors, or just plain horse enthusiasts.
"We can all look and see a horse that we like, but until you really stand in the shoes of a judge, it's very difficult to really grasp the important elements of showing a horse to its best advantage and then evaluate why one horse won and one horse didn't. Once you stand in center ring and you start evaluating horses and you realize some of the things you have to deal with, besides just having a good eye for a horse, that's when you realize how important it is to become as educated as you can at the Judges & Exhibitors School."
- Lisa B. Blackstone
Take advantage at this opportunity to further your education and get the winning edge in the show ring. Sign up before October 29 and pay $375 or pay $400 after October 29. It will make you a better horseman. Click here for more information or call (303) 696-4539 or email the Judges & Stewards Office with questions.
