FLJS launches new venture in Law, Justice and Society at Wolfson College 

Collaboration brings about major centre for Law, Justice and Society

   

We are pleased to announce the launch of the Law, Justice and Society Research Cluster at Wolfson College.

This collaboration with the College's interdisciplinary research activity, alongside our affiliation with the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies, will constitute a major centre for the study of law, justice and society.

Europe on the Brink? To mark this new venture, we will be holding a panel discussion on 19th April entitled:
Europe on the Brink?
Economic, Political, and Constitutional Issues

Members of the European Commission, Wolfson Fellows, and European experts will discuss the current instability and future prospects for the EU.

Podcasts: What next for the Arab Spring?
Listen to the debates from Constitutional Revolution & the Arab Spring

Egyptian demonstrators A year on from the first wave of Arab Spring uprisings, what are the prospects for lasting reforms? These and other issues are addressed in a series of podcasts from our conference last month.

 

Participants reviewed the prospects of success for the Arab Spring revolutions and explored issues such as the incorporation of women's rights and Islamic law within post-revolutionary constitutional settlements. 

 

The debate features contributions from experts with direct experience of the unfolding events, including a human rights lawyer whose work helped to bring about the trial of Saddam Hussein.

This workshop explores federalism as an organizing principle for twenty-first century democratic constitutions and its impact on democratic governance.
