Neighbors Helping Neighbors
As Bank of the Islands works towards opening its Captiva office in early 2012, we are so grateful to John and Denice Beggs for inviting us to write this column to their online followers. If you know Denice and John, chances are pretty good you know Captiva. You may be their island neighbors, or hope to be someday.
Either way, we hope you'll think of our bankers as neighbors eager to help you with customized loan products and a wide variety of banking services. We are committed to providing the financial resources necessary to help turn your plans for the future into reality.
You may be thinking about refinancing. Doing so might allow you to reduce your mortgage payments, lower your interest expenses, or even pay off your mortgage faster.
Perhaps you want to take advantage of the equity in your home. If so, refinancing is a great way to consolidate higher interest rate debt or to secure funding for home improvements.
At Bank of the Islands, we customize loans to fit your individual financing needs. We offer financing for: * Primary, secondary or investment homes * Purchase, refinance or cash-out * Fixed or adjustable rates * Interest-only products * Loans for homes in most states * Auto and Boat Loans * Equity Loans and Lines of Credit * Home Improvement Loans
...and just about any other loan you may require.
Most importantly, our local decision making allows us to quickly respond to your needs.
As Lee County's oldest locally owned and managed community bank, we have a long tradition of trying to be good neighbors to our customers and fellow islanders. That may be part of the reason we've been voted the "Best Island Bank" for the past 13 consecutive years. That may be part of the reason that Robbie Roepstorff, our president, and Geoff Roepstorff, our CEO, recently received the statewide honor of being named the "Bankers of the Year" by the Florida Bankers Association.
One thing I can say for sure. We are definitely looking forward to being good neighbors on Captiva. It is a treasured place for the Roepstorffs in particular. Longstanding Sanibel residents, they were married at Chapel by the Sea.
Until the Captiva office opens, please stop in our Sanibel office at Periwinkle and Casa Ybel, call me at 472-2329 if there's any way we can help. We make banking about you, and would be honored to be your island bank.
Thanks for the info Rob! Welcome to Captiva! Back to Top |

Green Happy Holidays!
 |
Christmas Palm Berries
|
Its that wonderful time of year again. The air is cool and drier. The Christmas Palm berries are a festive bright red. White pelicans have returned to our shores for the winter.
As you get ready for the busy holiday season, we have a few green tips that have been selected to help make your life easier as well as being good for the beautiful planet we call home.
1. Cancel those undesired catalogs and junk mail that go straight to the recycling bin without a glance. Visit The Direct Marketing Association's Mail Preference Service which allows you to control the junk mail you receive. dmachoice.org
2. Throwing a party? Try using on line invitations such as Evite! With over 22 million subscribers, Evite is a fun way to customize invitations. Also, guests can immediately see who's coming, creating a buzz of excitement right up to the event. Once you see how easy and fun it is, you will never go back to licking envelopes.
3. Gift ideas? A few of this years favorites, available on Sanibel and Captiva, include:
- Local delicacies such as Black Mangrove honey or Seagrape wine or jelly are a unique gift to friends up north.
 |
Bamboo Salad Hands
|
- Bamboo salad hands: Cast metal sand dollar, seahorse, starfish, and scallops adorn these eco-friendly bamboo wood salad hands. Generously sized at 8"x4"
- Recycled flipflop doormats. These colorful handmade doormats keep foam-rubber wastes from sandal manufacturing out of landfills by transforming them into tough but lightweight doormats that excel at removing soils. Used indoors or out, they're easy to clean and have a cushiony feel that makes them great fatigue mats, too.
- Not sure what to buy? Pay a visit to the gift shops of local non-profits such as Ding Darling National Refuge, CROW, or the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation. You'll enjoy your visit and support a good cause all in one trip.
Wishing you the happiest of holiday seasons from all of us at Seacoast Cottage Company!
