The housing market seems to be on an upswing, and if your home is on the market you want it to SELL!

Creating the" home of your dreams" can be great fun. Many of us have collections from our travels, family photos, and books piled up to the ceiling. Although these might be treasures to you, they can cause clutter in your home.

When your home is on the market, keep in mind that space, simplicity and neutral tones appeal to the masses.



  • Are you an avid reader? Pack away unneeded books and magazines to open up and simplify spaces.
  • Does your home have great views? Don't hide the views and natural light behind heavy window treatments.
  • Do you love that bright color in your living room? Have it painted a nice neutral tone. It will appeal to more buyers.
  • Does your toilet run, faucet drip or door squeak? Investing in a handyman to repair pesky issues can aid you in the sale of your house.
  • How is the traffic pattern in your house? It is easy to walk around? Rearrange your furniture and remove excess pieces  to improve the flow and open feel of the rooms.

Green Ideas for Spring Cleaning!

Buy Green Cleaners or Make Your Own

When purchasing, be sure to look for non-toxic cleaning products. Select cleaning agents that are biodegradable, phosphate free, chlorine free and unscented. 
 
If you prefer to make your own, try:
  • General cleaner, great for mold and soap scum remover:
    3 c. Vinegar 1 c. Water
     
  • Drain Cleaner:
    Mix together 1 c. baking soda, 1 c. salt, and 1/4 c. cream of tartar. Pour down clogged drain followed by 2 cups of very hot or boiling water
     
  • Window cleaner:
    1/2 c. Borax 1 gallon Water
     
  • Wood furniture polish:
    3/4 cup olive or mineral oil 1/4 cup vinegar 1/2 teaspoon lemon oil
     

 - Reduce paper use.  Use rags instead of paper towels, cloth napkins instead of paper and buy post-consumer recycled paper.
 
- Eliminate paper: Recycle material you're never going to read. Register with catalogchoice.org <http://catalogchoice.org>  to stop unwanted catalogs from coming in the mail. Sign up to pay bills online.
 
- Laundry Tip: Use cold water only. Clothes get just as clean and you'll see an immediate impact on your electric bill.

Chow Down on Chowder

FISH CHOWDER

2-6 lb Stewed tomatoes (Beinvenido)
12 oz V-8 Juice
1 Onion
2 Green peppers
2 Red peppers 
1 tsp Old Bay spice
2 tbls seafood base or clam base
˝ tbls paprika
˝ tspn Florida Bay seasoning
2 oz Virgin Olive Oil
˝ tsp Black Pepper
1 Clove Garlic
Salt to taste
4 Stalks Celery- diced 
3 Med. Carrots-diced
 

Simmer low flame, till it begins to boil.

Add pieces of cooked fish, we usually use, grouper, mahi,
salmon, tuna, scallops and small pieces of shrimp.

Remove from heat and let cool.

This makes a large batch......Enjoy
