| Greetings!
Welcome to our November edition of E-Paradise.
I LOVE November!!! It is my very favorite month of the year.....the
gulf waters are still warm and clear.......the weather begins to have the crispness that only
we "islanders" recognize means Fall is here and Season is upon us. When I say Season.....not only is it our
Selling Season.....tis the Season of the return our winter visitors and residents
as well as the onset of our Holiday Season. Two of my favorite seasonal events that are coming up are
The Tree Lighting at Tween Waters Inn and The Sanibel and Captiva Luminary
Festival. Both have Santa and his
elves starting work early. More on these special events in the Festival
section.......
And finally it is time to celebrate Thanksgiving! WE are so very grateful to live, work
and play on these precious islands of Sanibel and Captiva. We also want to tell all of you that we
are grateful for our relationships with YOU!!
We are truly blessed!

1) TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY at 'Tween Waters Inn Resort November 27. Launch the holidays right with the brilliant sights and sounds of this awesome funky "ISLAND WONDERLAND"! It always brings a tear to our eyes as it touches our hearts and makes us all feel like a "KID" again.
This free 60-minute show
begins at sunset, and includes music, the lighting of the gigantic 30-foot tree
overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, and a colorful fireworks display. A CAPTIVA TRADITION, 100,000 lights sparkle throughout 'Tween Waters Inn, bringing
families and friends from all around to join in the celebrations. Visitors and
Islanders alike are welcomed to stop by one of Captiva's finest resorts to view the
display. Begin or end the evening right with dinner at the resort's Old Captiva
House or newly renovated Crow's Nest. YOU'LL BE GLAD YOU DID!

2) SANIBEL & CAPTIVA LUMINARY FESTIVAL - December 4th and 5th
The Chamber is proud to host its 25th annual Luminary Festival on
Sanibel and Captiva Islands Friday, December 4th, on Sanibel and
Saturday December 5th, on Captiva. Twinkling Lights with candlelit pathways magically turn the Islands into a festive wonderland. Meet your neighbors, see joyful musical performances, enjoy holiday shopping "Island Style" and much more........
As
you "travel the trail", look for the many fun places to stop and enjoy.
There will be a tree lighting ceremony, complementary trolley service,
Santa visits, photos with Santa, a live nativity scene, music and
activities for the entire family.

Have a Green Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is loaded with tradition, so why not start a new tradition by making your Thanksgiving holiday celebration green? Reducing impact on the environment is something for which everyone can be thankful. Here are a few tips on giving thanks to the environment:
- Use homemade decorations. Construction paper can be cut or folded into simple Pilgrim, turkey and harvest decorations and after the paper can be recycled.
- Carry reusable bags when you go grocery shopping.
- At dinner use cloth napkins that can be washed and used again.
- Make use of the beautiful weather outside and open up windows to help cool down the house instead of turning on the A/C.
- Share leftovers with guests. Don't keep all the leftovers in your fridge to get moldy, send your guests home with a doggie bag so no food goes to waste.
- Purchase fewer processed foods and seek out locally grown goods and organic foods.
- Shop online on Black Friday in the comfort of your home. You'll save on emissions as well as hassle.

SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN!
 His headquarters are on Captiva at ROYAL SHELL PREFERRED PROPERTIES and ROYAL SHELL VACATIONS office on the corner of Captiva Dr and Andy Rosse Lane during the Captiva Luminary Festival on December 5th at 5:30 PM.

What Do You Do With The Leftovers?

Make soup!
LEFTOVER TURKEY SOUP

1 turkey carcass
4 qts. water
1 c. turkey gravy
2 c. stuffing
1 c. chopped onion
1 bay leaf
3 carrots
2 stalks celery
1 tsp. dried parsley
1 tsp. dried basil
2 whole cloves
Salt and pepper to taste
1 c. thin noodles, cooked
1-2 c. turkey meat Place
turkey carcass, water, seasonings, stuffing, gravy and vegetables in
large kettle. Bring to boil, reduce heat, and simmer, covered, one
hour. Remove carcass from broth and pick all meat from bones. Strain
the soup, cut up the carrots and celery. Return broth and vegetables,
meat and noodles to kettle and heat to serving temperature.
Makes about
4 quarts.
