Brothers and Sisters...

If it's Fall at Lord of Life, it must be time for our annual stewardship emphasis.  And so the theme of what we will be sharing this year has it's focus in "Stories to Tell...Gifts to Share".  LOL has over 25 years worth of stories to share now with almost all of them good, gracious and Godly (well we are all sinners and some stories we would rather not share) and more in the making!  Each one of our stories has something to say about how God in Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit, has left his mark on us.

Throughout the next 5 weekends we will have the opportunity to view a variety of "video witnesses" from our congregation.  All of these people have marveolus stories to share; stories of how God has shaped and blessed their lives big time!  Through their own experiences of learning, serving and celebrating, these men and women of faith have something of value to say to us.  Both at worship and on our web site, we will see how the power and presence of the Lord of Life has challenged these people to grow in sharing their own time, talent and treasure.

By the first weekend in November we will all have had the opportunity to prayerfully consider and then decide how we too might share our gifts as we move into the year 2013.  On that weekend of November 3 & 4, Pastor Linda Wood (Our first intern and now recently retired ELCA pastor) will be sharing a message that focuses our attention on the festival of All Saints as we bring our 25th anniversary to a close.  It will be a wonderful occasion for us to "look to the past thankfully...look to the future hopefully...and live into the present boldly!"

May God continue to give us faithful stories to tell and abundant gifts to share!

Your Brother in Christ, Pastor David Jones

Thanks & Help Needed

Thank you to some of our unsung servants here at Lord of Life! Cindy Lee who makes sure we have flowers both in and out of the sanctuary to beautify our space. And to Barb Urban who puts the Sanctuary back together each week after we've finished messing it up over the weekend! Our thanks to both of you!

ADDITIONAL CONFIRMATION COACHES NEEDED FOR 7th AND 8TH GRADE
- We still need some additional people to help coach our Confirmation Learning sessions on Sunday mornings during the school year. There are a total of 12 sessions in all occurring in October, January, and March. The Pastors Jones could use some assistance with the 8th grade class and we're looking for another person to partner with Kristy Godfrey in working with the 7th grade class. Please contact Pastor Sue, Marie Lamb or the church office if you're interested in helping.

Stewardship Update

The annual Estimate of Sharing ("EOS") cards will be sent out shortly.  We would like to have all of these returned by the Nov 4th weekend, EVEN if you can't make a commitment at this time. We have a guest speaker for that weekend, which is special because it is the end of our 25th Anniversary Year of missions and ministries for Christ.

Please prayerfully consider your support of our ministries, and make an effort to return this card, or this year with this link you can fill it out online or also from the website at www.lordlife.us   We will also have a spot on the web for a time & talent survey, so we can find opportunities for you to share your gifts with others.

We are striving for 100% returns from all members of their estimates of sharing (even if you can't make a commitment at this time we need that info back). It is important to receive these by the end of the 25th Anniversary year so we can plan for and look forward to 2013 and the ministries that you make possible.

Thanks again for being an important part of the ministries of Lord of Life!  EOS form on web:

Men's Fellowship News

CALLING ALL MEN OF FAITH !

Why not join the 12 men who have already come out to our Wednesday morning study this Fall at the Red Lion Diner in Southampton (Our server Eleanor would love to see some NEW smiling faces!).  We invite you to "exercize your faith" with no fuss or muss and very little pain and strain.  We meet from 8AM to 9AM in our own room in the back of the diner.  We order off the breakfast menu (Pumkin Pancakes are now available!) and then share time in fellowship and faithful conversation.

Even if you haven't joined us before, please don't hesitate to join us NOW!  Our topic of conversation for the next several weeks will be the book of James (considered by many scholars to be the work of Jesus' oldest brother).  If you have a bible, bring it along!  If you have any questions about the MFB, just call me (609-707-6575) or E-mail me (Rev_Jones@lordlife.us).  Looking forward to seing you whenever you're able to join us!

  - Your Brother in CHRIST, Pastor Jones

P.S.  Our next Men's Fellowship Dinner will be held on Monday, October 22 at P. J. Whelihans in Medford Lakes and our presenter will speak to us about the work of Amnesty International and how it has shaped her faith journey.

Fuller Center of NJ Pines to Host 2013 Legacy Build

Participants at Fuller Center Build Project

From September 9th-14th, members of LOL could be found in Henry County, GA to participate in the Fuller Center Legacy Build, an annual week-long build where covenant partners around the world aim to help build or rehabilitate 100 homes. Merle and Neil Brown, Fran and Chuck Bubeck, Ed Harding, Rick Osman and Dennis Yates worked successfully on an entire home, including leveling the house, replacing rotten flooring and joists, new roofing, painting the outside, replacing the windows, painting some of the interior, putting new flooring down and redoing the bathroom. The client, Ms. Hunt, was a reclusive hoarder who was suspicious of us at the outset of the week, but by the end of the week, she was hugging and loving on us! She said, "This is the first time in my life that anyone promised me something and then delivered!"

During the trip, Fuller Center for Housing President David Snell, who visited us in July, announced that the Fuller Center for Housing in the New Jersey Pines has been selected to host the 2013 Legacy Build from July 29th-August 2nd! Build Up: Pemberton 2013 will find us hosting the project build and partnering with other organizations to help in the restoring of the Sunbury and other communities in Pemberton. We are very excited to have been selected, and there will be many opportunities for everyone to get involved!

Meanwhile, we are almost near completion on Justin Snodgrass' home! Many Fuller Center volunteers have worked tirelessly to complete the ramp and roofing, as well as outfit Justin's home with his own, very accessible bedroom and bathroom. Dedication is planned for October 5th!

For more information on our projects, including Build Up: Pemberton 2013, and other ways you can help to support the Fuller Center for Housing in the New Jersey Pines, please visit our website at www.fullercenternewjerseypines.org.

Fuller Center Anniversary

Chuck & Fran Bubeck    Chuck and Fran Bubeck were married on Sept. 11, 1965 and they celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary by volunteering at the Millard Fuller Legacy Build in McDonough, Ga. Both are heavily involved with the Fuller Center in the New Jersey Pines, where Chuck is the vice-president.

"This is what we like to do," Fran said. "We like to go around and help people. We've been to Katrina. We've been to Isaac. We've been to Bosnia and Croatia on mission trips. I've been to Panama on a mission trip. Now, we're a part of The Fuller Center."

Congratulations Chuck & Fran, and thanks also for your continued SERVING!

Update on new Church Sign

New sign for Lord of Life   In case you haven't heard, Lord of Life is getting a new sign!   The sign will have a 'static' upper panel with the church's name / logo, and then a full color lower display which we will be able to program for future events and activities at the church.  Permits have been acquired, and you may have noticed some of the trees have been removed already.  The planning is underway to start on the 'footer' for the sign.
This sign is an important upgrade to help us communicate the mission and ministries of our church, and help us share information with the surrounding community.
If you have any questions please see Andy Roppoli, Scott Glossner or Pastor David Jones.

Holy Humor...

The preacher was wired for sound with a lapel mike, and as he preached, he moved briskly about the platform, jerking the mike cord as he went.

Then he moved to one side, getting wound up in the cord and nearly tripping before jerking it again. After several circles and jerks, a little girl in the third pew leaned toward her mother and whispered, "If he gets loose, will he hurt us?"
