Brothers and Sisters...
In this, our 25th Anniversary Year, we are also observing the 20th anniversary of our church's building. It is hard to believe that we have been gathering in our original "physical plant" since June 1992 and what a great place to meet and minister it has been! Over 3000 services of worship have taken place in our sanctuary and over 2000 Sunday school classes have been held throughout the building (including the basement and kitchen) in that time. The Fellowship Hall has been the site for fellowship meals, sandwich making, mission brunches, wedding receptions, anniversary celebrations, funeral luncheons, PEP gatherings, blood drives, coffee houses, confirmation devotions and enrichment events, congregational council meetings, envisioning sessions, time & talent auctions, youth ministry lock-ins, marriage enrichment workshops and many more!
Our building was built to handle lots of activity and it has provided our congregation and other community groups the perfect place to "put our faith into practice" over and over again! It continues to be one of the most welcoming witnesses we can offer people as we seek to live out God's purpose for us.

 | "Girls Dresses for Haiti" @ LOL |
One of the highlights of my yearly trips to Haiti is the time I spend with the children at the local orphanage. Sometimes the children visit our clinic and other times we visit them at the orphanage. All the children get a check-up by the doctor and they receive toys and candy. As I watch them play and sing songs, it always amazes me how happy they are. They always have a smile on their face, even though their possessions are few to none. Quite often their clothes consist of what they are wearing and although the clothes are clean, they are worn and tattered. I look at these children with a new challenge in mind.
I would like to help clothe the young girls in Haiti with dresses. I received a pattern from Lou Hourihan that is very easy to follow. (This dress pattern was used to make dresses for little girls in Africa.) A minimum of ½ yard of fabric is needed. ¼ inch elastic is needed for the front and back, and bias tape makes the straps. Anyone who would like to help with this project is welcome. If you do not sew you may donate cotton fabric, ¼ elastic or bias tape for someone else to make the dress. I will set up a display of the dresses and instructions at church. I will take these dresses to Haiti when I return in February and will give them to the little girls who live at the orphanage.
Please see the display at the church, and if you have any questions please call me, Penny Miller @ 609-726-1698.

Adult Bible Study Summer Luncheon, Wed Aug 1, 12:30, LB Daniels
We've missed each other, so we're getting together! Join us for a bite to eat, a chance to catch up, and to toss around some ideas for our fall study. All are welcome! Please sign up on the bulletin board or call the office. PEP Homemade Ice Cream Social, Tue Aug 14, Noon
In the good old summertime, what better way to spend an afternoon than enjoying time together and making some good old fashioned hand cranked ice cream! We'll start the cranking as we enjoy a light lunch and then bring out the sprinkles, hot fudge, and whipped cream to top off our scrumptious dessert! Join us and ask a friend as well! The Sound of Music, Wed Aug 22, Surflight Theatre, Beach Haven
We're heading off to LBI for another musical treat! And what a great one it is! Lunch will be at The Spray Beach Inn followed by this special show. Please sign up and pay by August 1st so that we can reserve our seats.
A Walk in the Park Review - Long Bridge Park in Hainesport What an amazing time we had as we walked through another gem of a park! Butterflies floated by us, birds sang, the sun dappled through the forest, the Rancocas gently glided by us at our resting spot, and we even got to witness a fawn nursing from its mother. And to top off the event, we rediscovered the drive-in with a lunch at Sonic! Great company, a gentle walk, and exploring God's creation...what a great combination! Join us in September as we explore Palmyra Nature Cove!

Cleaning closets? Lutheran Care will take your knick-knacks and DVD movies. DVD movies are shown to the residents in the Home's in-house movie theater. The knick-knacks will find their way into the Holiday Shop where residents pick holiday gifts for family members at no charge. Thank you for thinking of them.

The Tithe: God's provision to celebrate
It is God who provides the rain and sunshine but also the storm, pests and diseases. Our business may boom or it may have an untimely setback when we are the most vulnerable. The weather, the world economy and political uncertainty are not in our control - but God is ruler over them all. It is good for us to regularly reflect on God's blessing on us each time we complete another cycle (crop or business or semester). For the Israelites it was a week long party provided by a 'harvest tithe'.
> Just a reminder also - the summer is a great time for vacations and trips, but please remember the church has continuing expenses throughout the year. A good way to support your church during these 'lean months' is using the free 'Simply Giving' program. Click for more info! And thanks! <
