VISION Update - Council has been working hard on taking the next steps in implementing our Vision and at a Council retreat on June 20th we developed a new way of organizing into leadership teams to help us get started. The plan includes the establishment of 5 new leadership teams. Each team will include Council members, Staff, and volunteers. On Monday August 13th, these leadership teams will meet for the first time from 7:30 to 9:00PM to begin getting organized and planning for the upcoming program year. Many of you who are already active in these ministry areas will be asked to participate in this first meeting to help get things rolling but we'll be looking for additional volunteers to participate in these teams as well. If you'd like to know more or are interested in being part of one of these ministry teams feel free to contact the Council representatives for that team or one of the Pastors at any time and we'll be happy to include you.

Building Key Change Info - Apologies to those of you who accidentally got caught in the transition recently when the locks were changed on the building. We know that there were a few folks who attempted to get in before the word went out and before some of the new keys could be provided. We're truly sorry for any inconvenience it caused.
Part of the reason for Council's decision was precisely because there was no current record of who actually had keys and why they were given out. Recent problems with things in the building, and in particular from someone accessing the office computers without authorization, and on-going problems with the phone system and some of the electrical circuits, has created a situation where Council felt it was important to know who had access to the building. The goal is to properly protect office technology and sensitive information as well as to better coordinate building maintenance and upgrades.
The new policy provides for keys to be assigned based on ministry leadership responsibilities so that in the event that the person in charge of a ministry area changes (e.g. a Council member) keys can be reassigned to the people who take their place. All staff, council, and ministry team leaders will be assigned a key. Some additional keys will be provided to those who support on-going ministries that require them to be in the building when no one else is available to let them in. Additional keys are also available for sign out from the church office for short term use. Please call the church office if you have any questions or concerns.
- Peace, Pastor Sue, Pastor Jones, and the members of the Congregation Council

One of the highlights of my yearly trips to Haiti is the time I spend with the children at the local orphanage. Sometimes the children visit our clinic and other times we visit them at the orphanage. All the children get a check-up by the doctor and they receive toys and candy. As I watch them play and sing songs, it always amazes me how happy they are. They always have a smile on their face, even though their possessions are few to none. Quite often their clothes consist of what they are wearing and although the clothes are clean, they are worn and tattered. I look at these children with a new challenge in mind.
I would like to help clothe the young girls in Haiti with dresses. I received a pattern from Lou Hourihan that is very easy to follow. (This dress pattern was used to make dresses for little girls in Africa.) A minimum of ½ yard of fabric is needed. ¼ inch elastic is needed for the front and back, and bias tape makes the straps. Anyone who would like to help with this project is welcome. If you do not sew you may donate cotton fabric, ¼ elastic or bias tape for someone else to make the dress. I will set up a display of the dresses and instructions at church. I will take these dresses to Haiti when I return in February and will give them to the little girls who live at the orphanage.
If you have any questions please call me, Penny Miller @ 609-726-1698.

A Walk in the Park, Wednesday, July 25th, 10:00, Long Bridge Park, Hainesport We're on the road again for another jaunt through a local park. This time we're headed to Long Bridge Park, a forested sanctuary along the Rancocas Creek with upland and lowland forests, a freshwater pond and wetlands, tidal marshland, creek shoreline, and meadows. Observation blinds are sited to capture a variety of habitats and the wildlife they support. While using these blinds or hiking trails, we might see white-tailed deer, red fox, gray squirrels, beavers, cottontail rabbits, red-tailed hawks, great blue herons, and a wide variety of waterfowl. Bring a bag lunch if you'd like to eat after the walk, and we'll make sure to find an ice cream stop on the way home!

The Tithe: God's provision for meeting needs
God wanted all the peoples of the earth to be blessed through the people of Israel. God established that strangers, visitors, poor, widows and orphans would be provided for in Israel through a tithe. Jesus was particularly concerned about people in need and urged his people to provide for them. Tithing is a good way to provide the resources that enable us to respond to the needs around us and beyond. > Just a reminder also - the summer is a great time for vacations and trips, but please remember the church has continuing expenses throughout the year. A good way to support your church during these 'lean months' is using the free 'Simply Giving' program. Click for more info! And thanks! <

It was about a month ago when a man in Amsterdam felt that he needed to confess, so went to his priest: "Forgive me Father, for I have sinned. During WWII I hid a refugee in my attic." "Well," answered the priest, "that's not a sin." "But I made him agree to pay me 20 Gulden for every week he stayed." "I admit that wasn't good, but you did it for a good cause." "Oh, thank you, Father; that eases my mind. I have one more question..." "What is that, my son?" "Do I have to tell him the war is over?"
