From the Council President:
I would like to take this opportunity to wish each and every one a Healthy and Happy New Year!!! As we think about those "resolutions' we all make.....make sure you make the most important resolution be that we all resolve to let Jesus Christ be the guiding light in our lives.
I would like to invite everyone to attend our Annual Congregational Meeting on February 12, 2012 (4pm dinner, 5pm meeting). There is a dinner in the Fellowship Hall and then the meeting will take place after that. Please mark this date on your calendar as it is imperative that we get as many confirmed members as possible to attend so we can have a quorum and conduct the business of the church for 2012.
I look forward to seeing you there!!!!
Your brother in Christ,
Scott Glossner
Congregational Council President

Knowing God's Word - Women of Faith Study Guide
Many women find reading the Scriptures to be a daunting prospect, let alone actually studying them. Questions arise. Is studying the Bible different from reading it? Why do we study God's Word? How do you study God's Word? Knowing God's Word will prepare women to approach the Bible with confidence and excitement.
Review: "This devotional helps the average Christian get further in to the Bible, to think, to reflect, and to see the application in her own life. Excellent, thought-provoking questions are the key."
Review: "It's a great study for small group or individual. I have enjoyed being able to study God's word a little closer and have good conversation with other Christian women. . . it's a great study. There's something very powerful about studying the Word."
Please contact Lisa Spector at Teachjodi97@yahoo.com or 268-2842, OR Anne-Marie Pifer at Jubilee22@hotmail.com or 268-2282 to sign up or if you have any questions. You are welcome to join any time and no worries if you can't make every meeting! Books are $10. Childcare is available.

Here's the word about the show from Sight and Sound..."A new, completely immersive experience, Jonah promises to move you to laughter and tears. From the enormous whale swimming over your head to the thunderous effects of the powerful storm, and a mighty 30-foot-tall ship that breaks apart right before your eyes, the story of Jonah will astound and captivate the young and young-at-heart alike." Sounds great! The cost will be $94-$100 each, depending on how full the bus is. The price includes transportation, an amazing family style lunch, and the show. If you would like to reserve a spot, please sign up on the bulletin board, make out a check to Lord of Life with a $50 deposit by Feb. 5th, and place it in Sue Dreisbach's mailbox. Microwave Potato Bags - Thanks for everyone who supported the Haiti Sewing Project, and especially the members of our Women's Ministry who made and sold a total of 105 bags!2011 Bottom Line on Finance - Thank you for being a part of a record contribution year at Lord of Life. While the church ended 2011 slightly "in the red" (about $300), the church did receive a record amount of contributions during 2011. $464,753 has been received in 2011 to support the ministries we do. However for 2012 we have only received 43% of the 'Estimate of Sharing" EOS cards so far... please return yours if you have not already so we can plan our budget for the year.SUNDAY SCHOOL/CONFIRMATION BENEVOLENCE UPDATE! Thanks to the generosity of our children and their families, we were able to share $326.95 with the Code Blue Shelter at Zion Lutheran Church in Riverside! Thank you!

GRACE PLACE NEWS
|
For this month only, the Grace Place Board meeting will be held on MONDAY, Jan. 30th at 7pm. This change is to allow the teachers and aides to go to a seminar as part of their continuing education. February will return to the last Tuesday of the month. Grace Place is going International on February 23 and 24th!!! We are asking parents and church members to help us with this. Our goal is to have as many countries represented as possible. Students will be divided up into "tour groups" lead by a guide. Volunteers will be stationed at each country where they will share foods, information, language and/or artifacts from that country. You may team up with another parent or congregant to share the work. Suggested items for display could include maps, flags, videos, photos, coins, artifacts, brochures, etc. We will also need tour guides to lead the children around to each of the countries. You will spend approximately fifteen to twenty minutes at each country. Last year was the first time for this event and it was an overwhelming success. Please see the Grace Place bulletin board in the Narthex to sign up. You will be glad you did.
