Thoughts in Print - by Pastor Sue
To start a new congregation in Tabernacle (of all places) 25 years ago took VISION and particularly the vision of a gifted and determined pastor willing to take on the challenge. To be able to see a gymnasium as church and to then build a new church in the woods took VISION. To start a pre-school and to build the FDC took VISION. To grow a congregation by developing disciples and serving and celebrating in so many wonderful ways took VISION.
There are so many wonderful things to celebrate and so many wonderful things to look forward to in the future. But that future will also take VISION and especially YOURS as we once again seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit in making plans for our future together as the people of God here at Lord of Life.
In the text from the book of Romans for this weekend St. Paul calls all of us to be the body of Christ. And he makes it clear that it takes all of us to really make that work because everyone is important if the body is to function the way that God intends. EVERYONE! For each and every one of us are gifted with something that helps us to be who we are called to be as Lord of Life. Every one of us has something to offer even if we're not sure exactly what that might be.
So come and be part of the VISION! Take advantage of one of the five opportunities throughout the month of September that you will be hearing about to have some fun with your fellow "Lifers" and share the special and uniquely gifted person that you are as we look toward our future together. Consider this your personal invitation from Pastor Sue and know that your participation is not only desired it is necessary. For without it - without YOU - we are less than we could be!
Blessings - Pastor Sue

Thank You!
Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ, Grace and Peace to you,
We here at Bridge of Peace Community Church, ELCA have been truly blessed by your support this year. Thank you for coming last Monday with your VBS program and for making a big difference in people's lives here in Camden. It was really an amazing opportunity to see how we can work together in God's Kingdom and our joint ministry to Lutheran Care in Moorestown was very special. I want to thank you for allowing us to praise God and witness to Jesus Christ together. It has become clear to me that we can continue to learn many new things from each other, and we are strengthened by our mutual goal to be partners for the sake of the gospel.
We continue to lift you in our prayers especially as you celebrate 25 years in ministry on this territory... Thank you for everything...
Yours in Christ, Pastor Giselle

Letters!
Just to keep Gary Woodruff's congregation aware that Gary is continuing on his path toward ordained ministry in the ELCA. He graduated from the seminary with his Master of Divinity degree in May and is continuing further studies beginning this fall while he moves forward in the candidacy process. He is currently serving his chaplaincy requirement at Thomas Jefferson and is hopeful to begin serving as an Intern in January of 2012. I would appreciate that the congregation be made aware of his accomplishments and would appreciate continued prayers for him as he moves closer to becoming an ordained minister. - Prayers for everyone at LOL always, Peace,Catherine Salender

Adult Bible Study Returns! Wednesday, Sept. 7, 10am We're beginning our Fall study by returning to one of our favorite guides from last year, Dr. J Ellsworth Kalas, as he looks at Old Testament Stories from the Back Side. Dr. Kalas brings a new perspective to selected Old Testament stories by approaching them from the back side through a unique starting point, a creative retelling, a new lens, or the eyes of a minor or unsympathetic character. We enjoyed exploring his perspective on the parables last year and look forward to where we will find ourselves with this new study.
SPECIAL EVENT FOR ALL!
PHILADELPHIA MUSEUM OF ART
"Rembrandt and the Face of Jesus"
Thursday, September 8th, 9am, $34 guided tour
This exhibition reunites, for the first time since 1656, seven paintings of Jesus by Rembrandt. Abandoning traditional sources, Rembrandt created these exceedingly rare portraits of Christ with the use of a human model--a step which was totally unprecedented at the time. In viewing them today, visitors are presented with a number of religious, historic, and artistic questions to ponder. Our group will be led on a personal tour at 10:30am. We'll carpool from the church and Leisuretowne at 9am. Please plan to bring a lunch with you, or you can buy lunch in the café at the museum. Depending on the desires of those who sign up, we will have a 1:30 departure time and/or a 3:30 departure time. As we need to reserve tickets for this event, we are asking you to please sign up and pay by Wednesday, August 31st. For more information, please check in with Sue Dreisbach.

Holy Humor:
"Stewardship is more than setting up soup kitchens and overnight shelters. It is good and right that we reach into the river of despair and rescue people who are drowning. But it is time to move upstream and see who's throwing them in!"
