From the Church Council President's View
As we head into the "dog days" of summer and the temperatures heat up, things are heating up at Lord of Life too.
Beginning August 1 Vacation Bible School takes over the church and the theme this year is a pirate based theme. If you have not signed up already please do so. In fact, even if you have signed up bring a friend to experience this once in a lifetime opportunity at our church!
There are many other opportunities throughout the remainder of the summer to get involved with. It might be lending your time to help make sandwiches for the Christina Caring center or getting involved in some aspect of our worships services; as an usher, lector or even assisting minister.
The opportunities to serve at Lord of Life are growing each and every day. If you do not know what you want to do to help just call Debbie in the office (268-0262) and I am sure she can get you in touch with the right person who will fit you in somewhere.
Lastly, remember not to forget your church's financial needs through the summer months. The church continues to offer so much to so many and we are grateful to all who have given of their time, talents, and treasures.
Enjoy the remainder of your summer and I hope to see you all at worship services or some other church events.
Your brother in Christ,
Scott Glossner

Thank You!
Thank you SOUNDS OF JOY volunteers who helped to share the love of Christ with the residents of the Lutheran Care in Moorestown this month! What a great time we had as we celebrated Freedom in Christ through scripture, song, and a special message from Pastor David!
Thanks to all of the helping hands and hearts that made our ICE CREAM SOCIAL a wonderful afternoon of great food, fun, and fellowship! An extra special thanks to the Sunbury family-all 6 of them-who brought their hand-crank ice cream freezers and their cranky arms to make the ice cream along with everyone else who took a turn!
Thanks to all who have participated in the Drexel University Driving Study headed by our own Dr. Maria Schultheis. If you are a mature driver who would still like to participate, please talk with Sue Dreisbach or leave your name with the office and we'll tell you more about the study.

CELEBRATE LIFE !
Mark your calendars and get ready to roll this week!

We begin with HELPING HANDS on Monday, July 25th, as we make sandwiches for the clients of the Christian Caring Center in Browns Mills. You can help by joining us at 1:00 to make sandwiches, drop off some meat or cheese, deliver the sandwiches to the CCC, or make a donation and put it in the offering plate with "Helping Hands" on the envelope.
Tuesday, July 26, 1:00, NEW HARMONIES: CELEBRATING AMERICAN ROOTS MUSIC
Learn some history and listen to some tunes as we tour this special Traveling Smithsonian exhibit on display at the Smithville Mansion Annex Gallery in Eastampton. Roots Music depicts the music of our people with photographs, recordings, instruments, lyrics, and artist profiles. What an opportunity! There is no admission for this special exhibit which is open to all ages!
Then on July 27th, we're off to LATE LUNCH AT MASTORI'S DINER in Bordentown. We're hopping in between the lunch crowd and the rush hour traffic! We'll be carpooling from the Southampton Township building parking lot at 12:45 or meet us there. Please sign up on the bulletin board or call the church office so we can let the diner know how many are coming. All are welcome!
And save the date!
GLORIA'S GARDEN RETREAT OUTING
Wednesday, August 10th, 10:00 - Come walk the winding paths of certified organic master gardener Gloria Douglass' Garden Retreat on New Freedom Road in Southampton, a three-acre floral paradise.

Holy Humor:
Arriving at the Gouldsboro United Methodist Church one Sunday morning, Rev. Timothy Ehrlich, the pastor, whipsered to his six-year-old son, Shawn:
"This is God's house. You must behave in it."
"Daddy," Shawn replied, "can I use God's bathroom?"
