Pastor Dave

Brothers and Sisters...

   Summertime is a great time to take advantage of God's marvelous gift of WATER!  Just today, I got very wet baptizing Charlotte Rae Kozak and I made sure everyone could hear and see this gracious sacramental flow of our Lord's goodness soaking the occasion.  Water, water everywhere!

   Speaking of H2O, the 45 members of our senior high mission team just returned from Cleveland, Ohio where Lake Erie was an ever present factor cooling the temperatures as we labored in ministry around the city and providing a beautiful backdrop for our mission experience.  And in a few weeks, the Potomac River will flow alongside the city of Washington, D.C. where our junior high servant team will bathe together in God's love and service (figuratively speaking that is).

   Water will also prove to be a major player in this summer's VBS.  The theme has a distinctly "Pirate" flavor...Arrgh, and features a variety of biblical stories which have a watery focus:

   Noah - a world class cleansing story with a unusual cast of ark inhabitants;

   Moses - a baby in a basket, rescued, who becomes an instrument of rescue and whose name means "drawn from the water";

   Jonah - a reluctant prophet who spends 3 days in the belly of one of the sea's big fish and then does his penitential duty;

   Jesus walking on the water - a miraculous water walking venture that reminds us that "if we want to walk on the H2O then we have to get out of the boat!"

   If all this liquid refreshment wasn't enough, it appears that there will be a number of other summer water ventures ahead...youth ministry pool parties...a trip to the beach at LBI...an inner tube float on the Weymouth to Lake Lenape...our church picnic on Sunday, September 11th to be held at the Family SWIM Center in Camp Ockanickon.

   Some have said that "Living out our Baptism in relationship to CHRIST is all about Walking Wet".  Let it never be said that the people of Lord of Life are afraid to "dive right in".  Here's to swimming with you in God's goodness!

                    Your Brother in CHRIST,

                      - Pastor David Jones

Thank You

 The Maurer Family would like to  thank all of our dear Lord of Life sisters & brothers  for all their prayers, love, food, hugs, kindness, concern and donations. This past year has been a difficult one, but with the grace of God & the love and prayers of all of you, we were lifted up & received many blessings.  Thank you to Pastor Jones & Pastor Sue, Rick Krause & Sue Dreisbach & everyone involved for the most beautiful  Memorial service for John- it was a wonderful celebration of his life. And thanks to all those who baked & helped with the luncheon afterwards! We love you all! Please keep those prayers coming!God  Bless you all, Diane, Clare & Johnny

 Thanks to everyone who helped with the registration, the coordination and the efforts associated with getting the 25th Anniversary Edition of the Lord of Life Photo Directory completed on time.  We are awaiting the proofs, and hopefully all the 'ts' are crossed and 'i's' dotted!  Thanks especially to Barb Wagner who took on the coordination of this event and worked very hard to have it completed on time (so we can get some 'bonus' directories)!

  From Executive Director, Madelyn Sheldon-Mears, of the Christian Caring Center in Browns Mills about the Helping Hands sandwiches delivered in June:  "They were a BIG hit again today and at the woods-THANKS!"

  A heartfelt thanks to the people who donated 65 pints of blood at our June 28th Blood Drive!  This is an amazing feat as there is such a need during the summer and the turnout for summer drives is often slow, this was our most successful spring drive ever!   As, a church we have now reached 1,000 pints donated to the Red Cross!  Thanks to those helping in this drive including Ed & Susan Kagan, Linda Elliot, Nancy Drew, Kathy Edgerton and Lori Fernandi.  And thanks to others who helped and especially the doners who are truly giving the 'gift of life'!
