From the President's Corner

As we go beyond Memorial Day and head into the lazy, crazy days of summer, I want everyone to have a healthy, happy, and safe summer. Whether your summer plans include trips away or just down to the shore please don't forget your brothers and sisters in Christ here at Lord of Life.

The summer months here at church usually mean a lighter than normal turnout for worship so all of you that will not be here will be missed by those of us who will still be here.

Remember no matter where your travels take you in the coming months do not forget to bring along the most important passenger... Jesus Christ.  By having Jesus with you ensures that you will be enjoying a summer filled with the joys of life.

Lastly, please do not forget to support your church even when you are away. You can either mail a check to church or just sign up for Simply Giving to continue your commitment to our ministries here at Lord of Life.

   Yours in Christ,  Scott Glossner

              President, Congregational Council

SHYM Miles to Ohio & Home!

ohio mapThe Senior High Youth Ministry's Summer Mission Trip to Ohio is Jun 26-Jul 2, and we will spend a week working and serving the people of Cleveland.  Our time will be spent serving with the TEAMeffort, a Youth Mission Camp program, working on home repair projects and serving at a senior center, homeless shelter, and food bank.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?  We have the 'Miles to Ohio & Home" -

Here's how it works:

1) Purchase as many miles as you like;  one mile is $5.00.  We have 921 miles to be purchased.  This helps us with rental vans and fuel costs for the trip.

2) Once you buy the miles, your name is added to our "Support Team".  You will get a card containing prayer needs for the trip, and a postcard from a youth participant.

3) Your gift not only supports the trip, but helps the youth gain a better understanding of what our calling to help others is all about as Christians.

4) For each mile purchased, a map in the entryway will be marked with a red line showing "how far we got to Ohio".

Thanks in advance for this donation to our service ministry and for helping both our youth and the people in Ohio.

Holy Humor:

It seems that there was a little old church out in the countryside: painted white and with a high steeple.  One Sunday, the pastor noticed that his church needed painting. He checked out the Sunday ads and found a paint sale. The next day, he went into town and bought a gallon of white paint. He went back out to the church and began the job.

He got done with the first side. It was looking great. But he noticed he had already used a half gallon. He didn't want to run back in town and being the creative person that he was, he found a gallon of thinner in the shed out back, and began to thin his paint.  It worked out great. He finished the remaining three sides with that last half gallon of paint.

That night, it rained: it rained hard. The next morning when he stepped outside of the parsonage to admire his work, he saw that the first side was looking great, but that the paint on the other three sides had washed away.

The pastor looked up in sky in anguish and cried out, "What shall I do?"

A voice came back from the heavens saying, "Repaint, and thin no more!"
