Thoughts in Print - by Pastor Sue
As I began to think about what to write for this edition of the LIFELINES, I realized that I am now in my sixth month as your second pastor, and I must admit that the time has simply flown by. Not a day goes by that I don't thank God for this new life in your midst. I feel as if I have been re-born. That I have been given a new lease on life in my 50th year on this earth. And what better time of year to be reflecting on all of that than during the season of Easter; the season where we remember and celebrate the tremendous gift given to us through Jesus' death and resurrection.
This season is about new life. It is about new beginnings. The witness of an empty cross as well as my own life experience have taught me that it is never too late to start over, to try something new, to leave behind the things that keep me from living an abundant life filled with love and joy and peace and hope. I pray that each and every one of you will give yourself the chance this Easter season to know that life as well. That you will give yourself the chance to look forward toward what can be in your life as a forgiven and freed child of the living God. Take the time to look toward heaven and bask in the warmth of the light and love of our risen Lord and Savior Jesus. My friends - HE IS RISEN! HE IS RISEN INDEED! ALLELUIA!

Thank You to our Volunteers!
Thank you to all those who made our 1st Holy Communion experience such a special one for the 18 young people and their families who participated in the program. Especially the folks from the Wednesday morning bible study group who wrapped all the bibles for the bible blast - Erin and Kris Gordon, Jan Baker, and Catherine Salender; Kirsten Granfors who helped prepare the meals for the sessions; and Sue Dreisbach, Marie Lamb, and Donna Yates for helping Pastor Dave and Pastor Sue lead the program. Thank you to all the volunteers (servants) we have here at LOL - without you we could not do all we do. So again - Thank You!
Also as part of the 'card care ministry' we want to thank all who have donated cards, notes and boxes of material. We have passed on some to the Lutheran Care for their gift shop. Residents get them free, and guests pay a small price. We have received 'thank you' notes from people we have sent cards to, and we feel that we did what God has directed us to do.

Grace Place News!
The children at Grace Place have been planting flowers!!! Many thanks to the people that bought the flowers from the Grace Place this past weekend. And a big thank you to Schultheis Farms for donating flowers to sell and plant. The proceeds go to the Financial Aid Scholarship for Grace Place Preschool.
Also the children of Grace Place have had their "serving" hats on lately. They brought in canned goods and food for Seneca's Food Pantry during Lent. Then they collected pledges for laps rode in the St. Jude's Trike a Thon held in the church parking lot on April 29th. The three classes combined rode 537 laps!!! Best of all no one needed first aid after the event was over. Congratulations to the young people of Grace Place. They should be enormously proud of themselves. I know we are!!!
The first week of May was Teacher appreciation Week. I would like to publicly thank the teachers that teach at the Grace Place. They are wonderful, caring individuals that truly care about the children they teach. -- Jill Glossner

SHYM Miles to Ohio & Home!
The Senior High Youth Ministry's Summer Mission Trip to Ohio is Jun 26-Jul 2, and we will spend a week working and serving the people of Cleveland. Our time will be spent serving with the TEAMeffort, a Youth Mission Camp program, working on home repair projects and serving at a senior center, homeless shelter, and food bank.
HOW CAN YOU HELP? We have the 'Miles to Ohio & Home" - Here's how it works:
1) Purchase as many miles as you like; one mile is $5.00. We have 921 miles to be purchased. This helps us with rental vans and fuel costs for the trip.
2) Once you buy the miles, your name is added to our "Support Team". You will get a card containing prayer needs for the trip, and a postcard from a youth participant.
3) Your gift not only supports the trip, but helps the youth gain a better understanding of what our calling to help others is all about as Christians.
4) For each mile purchased, a map in the entryway will be marked with a red line showing "how far we got to Ohio".
Thanks in advance for this donation to our service ministry and for helping both our youth and the people in Ohio. (checks to "Lord of Life Lutheran Church" re - Ohio SHYM trip)

Holy Humor:
When a pastor arrived at seminary, he noticed that someone had put up on the bulletin board a small sign with the simple message: "Job 7:11". Supposing it was a scriptural word of encouragement for seminarians, similar to John 3:16, he noted the citation and went home to look it up. It read: "Therefore I will not restrain my mouth; I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul."
How awful this person must be suffering! The pastor thought, wondering if the sign was a cry for help. The next day he took his concerns to the chaplain.
"Oh, that was on the employment board," the chaplain smiled. "There's a job opening at the Seven-Eleven".
