 The President's Corner

Greetings and God's peace to all. Hope all of you are finding ways to cope with our continued winter wonderland outside.  It is that time of year again when we gather for our annual Congregational meeting. I cordially invite and implore every confirmed member to join us on Sunday, February 27th for this most important event.

Dinner will be held at 4 pm and the meeting will follow at 5 pm. Check the bulletin board for a sign-up sheet on what to bring.  We will be voting on new council members, going over the year in review, and adopting a 2011 spending plan for our church.

As president of the Congregation, we need EVERY voice to be heard to help our council lead the church in a bold and exciting direction for 2011 and beyond.

I ask you to prayerfully consider attending this meeting and to also ask yourself what YOU can do to help our church move forward for the coming years.Scott Glossner

Hope to see you on the 27th of February and better yet, before then at any of our worship services and church events.

Your brother in Christ,   Scott Glossner

Results of our Stewardship Drive

Our Stewardship drive in the fall was not what we had expected or hoped to receive.  We have a substantial shortfall in the "estimates of sharing" against our projected spending plan for 2011.  As a result, there are some difficult decisions that our church council must make that impact our Ministries and ability to serve our church and community.

In the fall our congregation overwhelmingly voted to call a second pastor knowing the increasing blessings and challenges that await our growing church.  We continue to have amazing ministries that are serving our Lord, teaching, caring and sharing our gifts with those within and outside our church.  But to make this all happen, the facility must be cared for, the electric and gas bill must be paid, salaries and costs for our Ministries remain.  Our council has pruned costs, however a substantial gap remains.
If you haven't yet submitted your "Estimate of Sharing" card, or if it was blank, please pray and determine what the Lord is asking you to share of the gifts He has given you.  If you have submitted your EOS card, thank you for your gift; but please reconsider whether your gift can be expanded to help us invest in our programs and future for 2011.  If our congregation can 'step up' to the challenge, if we could each increase our giving percentage by as little as 1%, if we could consider "first fruits" giving to give back to God just a fraction of what he has given to us, we would have the ability to serve the Lord and help our community in many more ways.  And the "return" for this we can't even imagine.
Our church council will be making some difficult decisions shortly based on these inputs; please give them the best information you can.  And please pray for our ministries, finance team, and church council as we meet the challenges of 2011.  And come to the annual meeting on Feb 27th!

"Sing to the Lord a new song: Sing to the Lord, all the Earth"

A healthy and vibrant church believes that its Music Ministry is open to every person who walks into the doors of the church.   With that in mind, please consider participating in our New Life Choir during the upcoming Lent and Easter seasons.

Over the years, studies have been done to investigate why church choir membership is stagnant and/or not increasing.   They concluded that there are two reasons for this: (1) people perceive church choirs are not fun, and (2) they feel as if too much commitment is required.

People that have come to a choir practice at Lord of Life have found it fun and enjoyable.  Unfortunately, for some the time commitment has been the stumbling point.  Perhaps you may not be able to participate all year or can't make each and every practice-that's OK!  Whatever time you can give to praise the Lord is certainly welcome and appreciated.

In addition, Rick Krause would be more than happy to work with you if you would prefer to offer your time and talent in another musical capacity (cantor, solo, duet, instrument, hand-chimes, etc.).     Rick Krause

Please prayerfully consider this invitation as a calling to serve our Lord.  If you have any questions, please feel free to talk to Rick on Saturday night or Sunday morning at church or give him a call (Home-856-784-8204; Cell-856-287-5328).   You can also reach out to him via e-mail at 3rick@comcast.net).

Looking for volunteers to work the system especially on Saturday night services.  Training is available, and it isn't too difficult to do.  If you can help, please contact the church office.

Snow Shovelers
This winter is bringing us quite a bit of ice and snow.  The parking lot is being cleared, but we could use some help shoveling the walkways and salting both the walkways and lot before weekend services and during the week.  If you can be on call to help, please call the office to let us know!  You will be greatly appreciated.
Our thanks to the "snow angels" who have already shown up to help!

Casserole and Soup Makers
We would like to be ready when someone becomes
ill or needs help as they recuperate.  If you have a favorite soup or casserole that you would like to have available, we have a freezer that is ready to store it!  Please place your food offering in a non-returnable container marked with its contents, drop it off at the church, and let the office know so that it can be frozen.
