The Ten Commandments

Commanded by God, told by Moses, written in the Holy Bible and re-written by the

Seventh Grade Confirmation Team of Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Tabernacle, NJ,  October 2010

1.     Nothing is better than God.

2.     Don't disrespect God's name.

3.     Keep Sunday for a day of rest.

4.     Respect, honor, obey, love and serve your father and mother.

5.     Don't use hurtful words or hurt anyone in any way.

6.     Don't cheat on your boyfriend or girlfriend, or husband or wife.

7.     Don't take someone else's things, no matter how much you want them.

8.     Don't gossip or accuse your neighbors of something they didn't do.

9.     Don't crave others' stuff and want it.

10.   Don't want what you don't have.

The Confirmation Classes along with our Pastors, parents, and other adults will be spending Martin Luther King Day in learning and service. After gathering at the church at 8:30, they'll travel to Bridge of Peace Lutheran Church in Camden.  They will work in community with Bridge members on seven different projects.  We wish them well as they learn about this Camden ministry and share their time and talents with one another.

 Another Youth Led Worship opportunity is planned for Saturday, February 5th.  The youth have done a wonderful job over the last few years at leading services throughout the year.  In addition to being worship leaders, lectors, greeters, and singers, we would love to add youth musicians to the Praise Team that night.  Please let your Confirmation coaches know if you would like to use your gifts at this special evening of worship.

Annual Meeting Sunday, February 13th!

Save the date as we look forward to sharing a meal together, celebrating what God has done in, with, and through us in this past year, and looking forward to where we think God is calling us to go in 2011! 

I read this poem and thought "If Only" we could get everyone involved in the ministries of Lord of Life, whether it be through time, talent or treasure, we could make everyone's lives, including our own, so much better:

"If Only"

If only I can lighten someone's load / as they travel down life's road,

My heart would oh so happy be, to lessen someone's misery.

If only I can fill someone with hope, Give them courage with which to cope

Replace their sadness with a smile / I'd feel such gladness all the while.

If only I can brighten someone's day / And chase their dreary cares away

Morning, afternoon and night / My heart would sing a happy tune.

We do a lot through our missions, helping hands and shopping cart in the entryway.  Please prayerfully consider how you can be a part of the ministries here at Lord of Life.

We need you!  Ushers play a significant role in our worship life, and we need more of them, particularly at the 10:00 worship service.  Men, women, youth, and whole families are encouraged to come and find out more about being one of these important servants.  There will be a rotating schedule for each of the services, so this is not an "every week" commitment.  Training will be held on Thursday, January 27, 7 PM.

   Grace Place is going international!! The first week of March we are going to hold our first ever International Week where the children will learn about the world! We will be taking trips to many countries and are looking for anyone who has experienced a foreign country that can share information, items, pictures, and souvenirs from that country. 
   We are asking for volunteers who can give us a morning (9-12) the week of the 7^th of March to share your experience. We are also in need of large boxes (the size the children can crawl in) for the four year old classes' "Crate World"! If interested, please contact Judy Burgo at 268-7383. This promises to be a great learning experience for our children that will be fun for all!

   We have a couple of openings on the church council, and if you have considered helping us run the "business" of the church, we'd like to know!  Please contact Dennis Yates and/or Pastors Jones and/or Scott Glossner if you'd like to help!
