pony express logoPony Express Stewardship Campaign
This year the Lord of Life "Pony Express" will begin Sunday Nov 7th.
The Estimate of Sharing Card will be delivered to your home in a "saddlebag" by a Route Rider (a fellow church member who lives near you). After you have filled in this card, just seal it in an envelope, place it back into the "saddlebag", and then relay the "saddlebag" to another church member on your neighborhood route.
It's that simple to serve as a Route Rider in the Pony Express Run.

Between now and the time you receive the saddlebag, try to reflect on the gratitude you feel toward God for His goodness to you.  Be aware of the financial resources that God has entrusted to you, and consider the Christian stewardship giving response that is appropriate for you to make at this time.  Then prayerfully ask:  "Lord, what would You have me do to become the Christian steward You want me to be?"

THANK YOU!

"I serve on Council, Worship Committee and Card Care Ministry.  I feel blessed to do it and feel honored to be asked.  We here at Lord of Life are a wonderful family.  We share, praise, sing, and serve and I'm thankful to be a part of it all.  We still need more servants for many of the things we do and share--Lutheran Care, Helping Hands, Communion Assistants, Assisting Ministers, and Greeters--and we need to give more time-talents and remember what we have is from God. "  -  Priscilla Faucett  (Worship Ministry)

Thank you to everyone at Lord of Life who baked, bought goodies, donated & to Mr. Sunbury & Thrivent for the bake sale going above & beyond my goal & collecting $1,378.00 for the  Progeria Research Foundation. God bless you all,  -  Clare Maurer

A group of people from our church have worked for months totally remodeling a mobile home in Pennsauken to help a mother and son get back on their feet.  Here is a big THANK YOU to them - "To the wonderful women in our church who made two bake sales that started things rolling for Karen and Brian's home, and also sincere THANKS to Chuck, Lee and Alan for your unselfish kindness and so much work in hot weather!  Brian & Karen are so thankful and happy now... and so are we!  Love in Christ, Edna Bystrom"  And to all of the people who also spent countless hours and lots of love, we all say THANK YOU!

ALL SAINTS SERVICE

On Monday, November 1st, at 7:30 we celebrate the festival of All Saints, commemorating all of the saints of the church, remembering our faithful members, friends, and family members who have died, and celebrating all those who have been baptized during this past year.  This is a wonderful service of light, reflection, and hope.  If you need a ride to the service, please call the office.  There are drivers standing by to help.
Grace Place News!grace place

Friday, October 22nd the Grace Place children took a class trip to Conte's Farm in Tabernacle.  They had a great time, first picking apples, then pumpkins.  Conte's treated the children to fresh, warm cider donuts and chilled apple cider.  Then they made their way through the corn maze and yes, we did not lose a single child! The children had their faces painted by Ms. Ruth and Ms. Judy and we decorated the pumpkins.   A great time was had by all.  Many thanks  to the parents that joined us and helped to supervise.

Next Friday, October 29th, all are invited to our two Halloween Parades.  The first will be in the morning at 9:15 along the sidewalk area.  The second will be at 12:40, same place.  The rain location will be in the hallways of the FDC.  Please feel welcome to cheer on our "angels" and check out their costumes, too!

Money and possessions: The Bible has a lot to say

Did you know that the Bible is pretty blunt about money and possessions?  Consider that 1/6 of the New Testament, 2350 verses in the Bible, and 16 of 38 parables all address the topic of money and possessions.  More is said in the Bible about money than about heaven and hell combined.  Five times more is said about money than prayer.  Why are we so afraid to talk about it?  Why do we quickly get into a huff when we talk about money and giving at church?

  Christian Caring Center

The Christian Caring Center now has two sites for donations.  Food donations are still being taken at their original location on Lakehurst Rd. in Browns Mills.  All other donations are being collected at their new thrift store, The Village Thrift Shop, located at 87 Hanover Street in Pemberton.  The hours are Monday through Friday from 10-7 and on Saturday from 10-4.  The phone number for The Village Thrift Shop is 609-894-4500.

Furniture is accepted on a limited basis due to space restraints.  It is best to call with your questions about any large item you might want to donate.  When calling ask for the manager John or Marion, the board member who oversees the operation.

It is an exciting time of growth for the Christian Caring Center and they continue to be grateful for the support they receive from our congregation.

October is Pasta and Sauce month!
Your donations would be greatly appreciated to help our neighbors in need.  Please place your items in the shopping cart at the entrance to our church!  We can use pasta, sauce, and other non-perishable foods for the upcoming colder weather.

Thanksgiving Dinners
Would you like to help a family in need enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner?  Beginning on Nov. 6th, we'll have Murphy's bags available with an attached list of items that would be appreciated in helping to make that happen for clients of the Christian Caring Center.  Buy a few or fill the bag!  All donations will be greatly appreciated.  We'll be collecting supplies until Nov. 21st.

Help Wanted!Ringers Needed!
Your hands and heart are needed!  We would love to have one or two more ringers for the Bell Choir.  We meet weekly on Tuesdays from 1:45-3:00 and provide all the help and support you will need to feel comfortable as you learn.  You don't have to be able to read music.  It's a great group of people who love music and have chosen to help lead our people in song to the glory of God!  For more info. just see Sue Dreisbach or call the church office.

Teachers Needed!
Do you love children?  Is God nudging your heart to become involved in Children's Mininstry?  We need you!  We need a few people  to become part of our rotational  team for Sunday School classes at the 10am service.  You help for just a few weeks a year, the curriculum is great and requires minimal preparation, you'll get lots of support, and best of all you get to help our children learn about the Lord in fun and creative ways!  Please talk to Donna or any of the teachers to find out more.  You'll be amazed at how much you might learn as well!

Lutheran Care Volunteers!
Your hands and heart are needed to help us at our monthly, Sounds of Joy program.  Each first Monday of the month we enjoy music and scripture as we share the love and grace of God with our friends at Lutheran Care.  We would love to have more people to help us transport and interact with all of the residents.  Our next date is Monday, Nov. 1st.  We carpool to Moorestown and encourage you to check in with Sue Dreisbach for more information and to help.
