Ask Vicar Suefirst communion
Welcome to the final installment of 'Ask Vicar Sue'. The most popular question these days as my internship comes to an end on July 4 is,"What's next for the Vicar?", and the best answer I can offer is, "God only knows!"
The next formal step in the process toward ordination for me is "Assignment", otherwise known as "THE DRAFT", where all of the available new candidates are assigned to synods within the ELCA. I have identified New Jersey as my first choice, but the decision really us up to God, and a handful of bishops, in September.
I am confident that I will find my way to where God would have me serve. My journey through seminary and candidacy has been about God's work and God's timing since it began five years ago, and I trust in God's continued faithfulness.
I thank each and every one of you for your supporting me through this part of my journey. I could not have asked for a more wonderful and faithful group of people with whom to serve, and I am eternally grateful for the role you have played in making me the best pastor I can be. You will ever be in my thoughts and prayers!
    Blessings - Vicar Sue

SonQuest 2010 VBS
Vacation Bible School  is August 2-6th in which the church will become a "rainforest".   Morning sessions for preschoolers-K; evening sessions for 1st-5th grades.  Bible stories, music, drama, crafts, games, snacks, and lots of FUN learning God's Word!  Prayerfully consider how you can HELP in any of those areas as well, and sign-up on the bulletin board in the entryway!

Cardboard rolls from paper towels and artificial greenery are needed to create our rainforest.  Items may be placed in the box in the entryway.  Also, please start saving all plastic twist-off lids for our recycling collection!
Email Feedback
first communion"Thank you for all of the prayers, concerns and cards during Joe's illness and after his death.  It is truly heartwarming to know there are so many caring people in our community of faith."  Kaye Zippilli

"Thanks to members of Cub Scout Pack 439 for weeding and cleaning debris from the Memorial Walk on Saturday morning, June 26th."

"Yesterday my 2nd GREAT Grandchild was born!  Her name is: Quinn Barbara, the parents are Meghan (my granddaughter)& Bill Helzlsouer in PA!!" -  from Barbara Knapp the proud Great Grandma!
Discussion Forum Information Available
A discussion summary and packet of information from our forums on Immigration, Sexuality, and Racism have been made available in the entry foyer at the church for anyone who is interested in continuing their study and conversation related to these important topics.
I encourage all of you, whether you were able to attend any of the sessions or not, to take a look at these materials and to seek to hear God's voice in how you respond to such issues both individually and as a community of faith. For those of you who were able to attend, I thank you for your presence and participation and for making these three sessions such a valuable undertaking.

Time, Talents, Trees (creation) and Treasure
God created me, He gifted me with my skills, aptitudes and abilities and he determines the number of days I live.  He has also, along with my citizens, given us a world to provide for my needs.  It is the combination of my time, my abilities and my use of the created order that allows me to generate wealth: money and possessions.  It is He who enables me.  If that is so, why is it so hard to set aside some again for his specific purposes - my giving?

Holy Humor
A little girl, dressed in her Sunday best, was running as fast as she could, trying not to be late for Bible class... As she ran she prayed, 'Dear Lord, please don't let me be late! Dear Lord, please don't let me be late!'
While she was running and praying, she tripped on a curb and fell, getting her clothes dirty and tearing her dress...
She got up, brushed herself off, and started running again! As she ran she once again began to pray, 'Dear Lord, please don't let me be late...But please don't shove me either!'
