President's Corner
As we end the Easter season and look forward to Pentecost, I want
to let the Congregation know how thankful I am for the opportunity to serve you as Council President.
I thought I'd take this time to introduce myself to you. I
have been a member of Lord of Life since 2000, served on Council in the past, and have taught Sunday School for the past seven years.
When not at Lord of Life, I teach Social Studies at Seneca High School.
As President I want to let the entire congregation know that I am
here to serve all of you. If you have any concerns, questions or suggestions, send them to me via my church mailbox
(#150) or email me at sglossner@comcast.net. or LOL_PREZ@LordLife.us.
I am always receptive to any and all input from the congregation at large.
My biggest concern for our church, as summer approaches,
is our financial condition. We are currently behind in the amount given versus the amount
pledged through the Pony Express campaign. The next few months are the church's lean times in terms of
attendance and sharing. I am asking all members of our congregation to prayerfully consider getting back to their pledge (if behind), or increasing their
giving, to ensure we can continue the important missions and ministries of our church.
Yours in Christ,
Scott Glossner - President of LOL Church Council

Thank You!
Thank you all for your generous
donations of clothing for the 5 year old boy. He now has plenty of
clothes to get him through the summer and into the fall.
Thanks to all who baked & got their cars washed to raise over $1000 for the Senior High Mission Trip transportation. Your time and generosity will make a difference!
Thanks to everyone who has been providing food and clothing for the Christian Caring Center (Helping Hands money & supplies). This outreach means so much to those in need in our community.
Thanks to Barb Wagner & Fran Bubeck, our 'kitchen angels', who recently helped reorganize our kitchen and 'whip it into shape'!
Thanks to Harry & Kirsten Granfors for their many efforts in setting up for our bell choir rehearsals.
Thanks to our choir and praise team members who faithfully give of their time and talents in leading our congregation in praise to God.

Congratulations

...to our own Vicar Sue on graduating with honors from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia with her Masters of Divinity! We will have photos posted in our May photo section soon!

Vacation Bible School News: Check out the Vacation Bible School bulletin
board when you enter the church. It will be updated on a regular basis for our countdown to VBS. The date is August
2-6th in which the church will become a "rainforest". Prayerfully consider how you can help and sign-up on the board. There
will be two training sessions for the teen helpers this year. We ask that they attend
one. The dates are Sunday, June 13th 12 noon until 2 or Wednesday, June 16th 6-8pm. Teen
helpers are grades 6 thru 12. Grace Place Update:
Many thanks to the Schultheis Family for the Mother's Day Flowers. Grace
Place made over$600.00 in profit. Some of the flowers were donated to the Women's
Ministry group that went to members' houses and spruced up their gardens with them. Beware of that strange thing in our playground. A large new piece of
playground equipment has been purchased thanks to the many donations and fundraisers Grace Place has
done. I can't wait to see the children's faces when they first spy it!
Care Partners Ministry: A new offshoot of the Care Partners Ministry is being born. Anyone
wishing to make one meal to
freeze should call Jill Glossner either at church or at home (268-7283).
How it works is this; once I get a list together of people interested in preparing a meal, I will
call you approximately once a month and ask you to deliver it to my house or church. I have a large
freezer that was donated to me to hold these. If you wish to do it that month fine...If you are busy
or don't feel like it, that is fine too. In other words, it is not an ongoing commitment. As meals are needed
for shut ins, family emergencies, illness, etc. they will be distributed. If anyone knows of someone that
needs a meal, just call the church and we will do our best to get it to that person or family.

Here is an update on the 2010 General Fund Giving at
LOL as of end-April. You will recall that we did the Pony Express last
Fall, so the natural question is - how are we doing? Overall, the data shows total pledges for the whole
year to be $370,145 to the General Fund. So, for the first 1/3 of the year, we would hope to
have 1/3 of the total, which comes out to $123,381.
As of 4/30, the total income from pledgers was
$101,116. This means that overall, the pledgers are $22,265
behind. As we enter the 'lean times' of summer, we'd like to be in a positive position. If everyone can help us to fund our ministries of Lord of Life by 'catching up' (or let the office know if your situation and pledge must change) we can adjust. Thanks for your support of the missions and ministries of our church! |
