This month's Bible verse:  "Therefore, put on every piece of God's armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil.  Then after the battle you will still be standing firm."
~Ephesians 6:13

THANK YOU!  THANK YOU!  THANK YOU!
Alleluia!  Christ is risen!  Christ is risen indeed!  Alleluia!
We want to thank all of those who helped the drama of Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil, and Easter unfold. Did you know that 2 pastors, 1 vicar, 17 musicians, 20 vocalists, 42 dramatists, 7 altar guild, 13 communion assistants, 18 greeters, 2 secretaries, 19 ushers, 6 lectors, 13 worship space, 2 assisting ministers, and 4 audio/visual volunteers were involved and many of them multiple times? We thank you all for sharing your gifts of time and talent to God's glory and with your Lord of Life family!

Thank Yous are extended to all those who helped with baked goodies for the Sexuality Forum on March 14th, especially in the midst of all the power outages that weekend. Peg Gibson, Tina Leach, Diane Maurer, and Donna Yates.

Also a Thank You to all of our Helping Hands angels who once again made a record breaking amount of sandwiches to share with our brothers and sisters at the Christian Caring Center in Browns Mills. Your enthusiasm and witness are amazing!

Vicar Sue JOnesAsk Vicar Sue!

Just when you thought it was safe... out comes another installment of Ask Vicar Sue.
  Greetings and salutations on this wonderful
Sunday of the Easter Season. Recently I've had the opportunity to work with several different groups studying the Lord's prayer, and the Doxology (AKA The Conclusion) has been asked about. You know, the part that goes: "For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever."
 For some Christians, certain Roman Catholics and Lutherans in particular, this part of the prayer is often not used. This is because the Doxology does not appear in the gospel of Luke or in the earliest manuscripts of the gospel of Matthew. It appears to be a later addition in Matthew.
  One of the earliest, and most well known, printed bibles in the English language, The King James Version, does contain the doxology, where many modern translations, such as the New Revised Standard and the New Living Translation do not include it. Interestingly, it does not appear in Luther's original version of the Small Catechism either.  :-)   Blessings - Vicar Sue

Upcoming Lord of Life Discussion Series!
  Lord of Life will conclude the series of three discussion forums on timely topics. Facilitated by guest speakers, they are open to members of Lord of Life as well as other ELCA congregations. They  provide an opportunity to become more knowledgeable on these topics and to ask questions, present concerns, and hear the questions of others . The sessions provide an opportunity to be in conversation with our fellow ECLA members  on issues concerning our church today. Please plan to attend the final remaining forum:
                ==> Racism - Sunday, May 23rd 3:00-5:00 PM
Held at Lord of Life.  Please feel free to submit any questions / concerns for the speakers to review in advance to vicarsue@lordlife.us.

Our own Music Director - Mary Whelan - will be helping children and teaching music on a mission trip to Tanzania Africa in early May 2010.  In order to help defray some of the cost of the trip we had a fund-raising brunch April 11 and thanks to everyone who setup / tore down / attended / or contributed.  If you couldn't make it and interested in contributing to this cause it would still be very much appreciated.  Please contact Mary Borris in the Church Choir, or leave a message or donation at the Church office.
