Brothers and Sisters...
The meaning of Holy Week deepens with our awareness of the events which unfolded almost 2000 years ago in Jerusalem.  As we enter more fully into the Passion drama, the Risen Lord is more able to touch our hearts and minds with the incredible story of His love for us and all people.  This Holy Week at Lord of Life you are invited to discover that awesome truth for yourself.

Palm Sunday / Sunday of the Passion weekend begins triumphantly -"Hosanna - Save us Lord!" but ends as we hear the angry mob yelling "Crucify Him!"  Holy Thursday / Maundy Thursday we are moved by Jesus washing the feet of his close friends and then inviting them and us to "Take and eat...Take and drink" and forever reminding all that "This is my body...This is my blood - Given for YOU."  We close our service that night watching as everything bright and beautiful is stripped away from the chancel.  Then on Good Friday our children and families gather at the hour of Jesus' death to experience the sadness of Jesus' pain and sorrow and a glimpse of gladness through an interactive retelling of the passion story.  Later that night the passion account of Saint John is read, complemented by the sharing of several responses from people who were there, while the sanctuary grows ever darker, and we hear Jesus say, "It is finished."  Then the stone is rolled in front of the tomb.

All of this leads to Holy Saturday and our Easter Vigil where we move from the darkness of the grave to the light of the resurrection at the empty tomb.  Candlelight, Old Testament readings, Renewal of Baptismal Vows and the First Eucharist of Easter highlight this ancient service and lead us into the joyous celebration on Easter Sunday morning where we shout the words heard around the world, "He is Risen!  He is Risen Indeed! Hallelujah!"

Holy Week and Easter help us understand the full story of God's gracious and unrelenting love.  Let all your senses savor "the greatest story ever told" as our worship together strengthens our belief that the God who has raised His only Son has indeed "blessed us to be a blessing" in the process!

Your Brother in Christ,  Pastor Jones
