Monthly Bible verse:  "And He told them, 'Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.'"  Mark 16:15

From Chuck Bubeck, President Church Council
As this is my final Annual Meeting as President of Council, I am taking this opportunity to thank all those hard working staff and volunteers who made me look as if I knew what I was doing.  The leaders of our ministries be it Music, Stewardship, Property or Grace Place and committee chairs of finance and fellowship, and the members of our mission partner The Fuller Center for Housing have all contributed to the growth of Lord of Life's place in our community.  I also need to thank each and every one of the Lord of Life family for your generosity, when asked, and I really hated asking, you always came through with time, talent and treasure.

There are also a few individuals that deserve special recognition
·        Jill Glossner for organizing the Grace Place and growing it to its current size; with, we hope, bigger and better things to come
·        Fred Wilfred and Harry Grandfors for their untiring fix-it work in and around the buildings; if something you saw broken has been fixed you can usually thank these two gentlemen
·        Neil Brown for keeping our parking lot plowed which at times took six to eight hours per storm, for developing the Fuller Center for Housing as our Covenant Partner and as vice-president of council always being there when I needed him

There are others I know I should mention, but there is only one more I have time to thank today.  That is my wife Fran, for always being there as a calm voice of reason when I was angry and believe me, the job has not always been easy, as a gad fly, bugging me to get things done when I would rather just sit and read a book, as someone who volunteered when she was already too busy and as someone who was always waiting for me no matter how late the council meeting lasted. Thank you.

Update on Haiti Trip
The decision was made by Hope Alive to return to Haiti this March.  The trip is 'on' unless stopped.  If we should get to JFK airport and are stopped, then we will come home.  If we get to Port Au Prince and are turned away and unable to land, then we will also return.
The main objective is always spiritual needs.  Medical care and food are the next priorities.  We will not be giving clothing, shoes, toiletries this trip.  Fifty boxes of food and medical items have been shipped, with additional shipments being made every 2 weeks.
The number of volunteers is limited to 20, including 1 doctor, 5 nurses, 2 dentists and 3 dental assistants.  Our base camp will probably be World Harvest Orphanage which is now a tent city.  We will definitely be in the area of the greatest need.
Thank you for your continued support and prayers.   -  Penny Miller

"We are Family" Lent Experience
We Are Family Lent begins this Wednesday, Feb. 24th.  We will be gathering from 6-7:30pm for a light snack and family event each week for 5 Wednesday evenings in Lent.  The 5 family events are as follows:
- Feb. 24th - Lenten Banner Making,
- March 3rd - Interactive Story-Telling,
- March 10th - Family Bible Blast,
- March 17th - Stations of the Cross for Families,
- March 24th - Family Seder Meal.

Also, I would like to thank all the women who attended our Culinary Queens Women's Ministry Event on Jan. 31st.  A very special thank you to Fran Bubeck, Renee Bystrom-Jones, Lu Hourihan, Marie Lamb, and Cindy Lee who helped to make Culinary Queens a fun and exciting evening for the women and friends of Lord of Life.   - Donna Yates

Gifted by God: a piece of creation
"The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it" (Gen. 2:15).  Isn't it just fascinating that God would trust 'man' with the care of his created garden?  God gives us total freedom as to how we manage it - even to the point of abusing it - and aren't we guilty of that?  But we are to use and care for it!  God watches how we use our homes, farms, businesses and our country's wealth - He is evaluating our performance in terms of eternal significance: His kingdom.
Family In Need
Fran Jones is collecting stickers from the pots/pans promotion ACME is holding from January-April for a family in need.  If you have any you'd like to donate, please give them to her.  Thank you!
