Blessed to be a Blessing!
"CHRISTmas is near but Advent is here! For 4 very special weeks our congregation and
thousands of churches around the world will be watching and waiting for the
birth of a Savior. This Advent season is
a time of great preparation and expectation that can only reach its full
potential if we take the time to prepare our hearts and minds for the coming
"babe of Bethlehem." Let us be
sure to spend time with seasonal devotions that LOL is providing or other resources
that you may have accumulated over the years.
If you have an Advent Wreath, be sure to light it whenever you gather
for a meal or simply light a candle on your table as a reminder that JESUS is
the "light of the world."
Consider giving at least one gift to a ministry like "The Christian
Caring Center", "Christus Lutheran Academy", "The Fuller
Center in the New Jersey Pines" or "My Brother's Keeper" in
memory or honor of someone special. Most
importantly, make every effort to worship the God who sent His only Son into the world, not to
condemn us but to save us! Doing any or
all of these things will be a clear witness to others that during this first
season of the church year God is once again "blessing us to be a
blessing" to others.

The Greatest Treasure
Paul writes "But we have this treasure in jars of clay
to show that this all surpassing power is from God and not from us" (2 Cor.
4:7). The treasure that he is referring
to is the Gospel! It is our greatest
treasure - all others pale in significance.
Yet, it seems that we regularly forget and place more importance on
other things - earthly material things or our own position or wants - instead
of "...seek[ing] first his kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be
given to you as well." Matt. 6:33.

all that supported Grace Place wreath sale. - Jill Glossner
