Update on the Pony Express
pony express logoComing soon to your home!  Kickoff weekend of Nov 1st!
The Estimate of Sharing Card will be delivered to your home in a "saddlebag" by a Route Rider (a fellow church member who lives near you). After you have filled in this card, you will seal it in an envelope, place it back into the "saddlebag", and then relay the "saddlebag" to another church member on your neighborhood route. It's that simple to serve as a Route Rider in the Pony Express Run.  Saddle up, partner!

"No one can serve two masters; for a slave will either hate the one and love the other, or be devoted to the one and despise the other.  You cannot serve God and wealth"  Matthew 6:24

Blessed to be a Blessing!

Twenty-five Pastor David Jonesyears ago, Zion Lutheran Church in Landisville, Pennsylvania was preparing to celebrate their 75th Anniversary.  They decided to raise funds for 3 very special projects to commemorate the occasion.  These included putting a steeple on the sanctuary, placing a carillon in the bell tower and giving an $11,000 gift to a new congregation.  Members of the congregation presented this gift to Lord of Life during a worship service in the multi-purpose room at the Indian Mills School in the Fall of 1987.

Now, 25 years later, Zion is celebrating their 100th Anniversary and I recently had the pleasure of preaching during their worship on a Sunday morning.  Their centennial celebration got me thinking about our own 25th Anniversary (November 6, 2011).  How will we observe this joyful event?  Certainly we want to ask Bishop Riley to preach at a worship service when we gather everyone together in one place and at one time to give thanks to God for 25 years of  faithful ministry.  There must be lots of good food afterward too!  And what about a campaign to give a gift to Lord of Life (Helping to...reduce our mortgage debt... reconfigure our sanctuary or...add staff) AND a gift to a New or Emerging congregation?  Whatever we decide to do, I trust that just like Zion, we will remember that God has "Blessed us to be a Blessing" to ourselves and others.
