ACME Receipts Please remember those Acme receipts - the monies raised are used for our social ministry projects. Just circle the total and drop them in the entryway bucket. We were able to make 230 sandwiches for the Christian Caring Center partially from the monies collected from these receipts this month. Thanks to all supporting this project!

"Ask Vicar Sue"
Hi All - Welcome to a new feature of the LOL eNews entitled Ask
Vicar Sue. Since wandering into your midst back in July I have been
asked a number of interesting and sometimes amusing questions that I thought
would be worth exploring for a larger audience. So here we go with our first
installment... "What's a Vicar?"
Specifically, the title VICAR is from the
Latin word vicarius, meaning "a substitute." In general use these
days it has different meanings in different denominations. In the Roman
Catholic Church a Vicar is a priest who acts for another higher-ranking
clergyman, in the Episcopal Church it refers to a clergyperson in charge of a
chapel, and in the Church of England it refers to a clergyperson appointed to
act as priest of a parish (e.g. "The Vicar of Dibley"). In the Lutheran
church the title is used to identify a candidate for ordained ministry who is
serving an internship in a congregational setting; in other words, a "pastor in
training" who is within a year or so of completing the requirements for
ordination. That would be me...

Skirts for Haiti
Penny Miller is coordinating making skirts for women of Haiti and looking for help sewing or donations of 2.5 yards of washable fabric. Also interested in anyone who sells material wholesale. Haitian women never get anything new so this gift will not only help them materially but spiritually also. Please help Penny with this wonderful effort to help the Christian women of Haiti! |
THANK YOU !
To the people who donated supplies and receipts, and to the dozen ladies who produced 230 sandwiches for the Christian Caring Center to distribute to their clients...
For those who donated their time and talents to the Fuller Center work project at Christus Lutheran Academy doing remodeling of classrooms and bathrooms.
