Drake Shoot at S1S1 Does XXL

XXL Magazine came to S1 studios to shoot their May 2010 cover. Done in two parts by photographer Jonathan Mannion, Drake was shot here for the second time at S1 and Nicki Minaj was shot a couple of days afterwards in Los Angeles. For the Drake half of the shoot S1 supplied studios and equipment.

16GB16GB Extreme Pro CF Card Test

New in rentals: the 16GB Extreme Pro compact flash card boasts 90MB/s transfer speed. Now that this new Sandisk card is available in rentals at S1, we tested it out to see what that really means. Comparing the Extreme Pro 16GB card to our second-fastest card, the Sandisk Extreme IV 4GB, we see that the 16GB CF card has 25% more continuous frames per minute than the 4GB CF card when tested with the Canon 5D Mk II camera*. Great for fashion and video!

*We also tested a camera that does not have video feature: the Canon 1DS Mk III. Our findings are that even the latest firmware does not seem to take advantage of the speed of the 16GB card.

© Dominic FernandezDominic Fernandez Art Prints

Dominic came to us to print his Infrared black and white images for his new show. His use of lengthy developing really brought out the natural graininess inherent in IR work; it proved to be a great complement for our K7 piezography printing. The integration of traditional media and handmade digital processes yielded stunning results.
