 Profoto Assistants Fight Night Event Footage
Profoto Assistants Fight Night took place on May 12th, 2009 here at S1 studios. It was a great success with many Toronto Assistants coming out to the 2 different sessions, and being blown away by the rock solid high speed recycling of the NEW Profoto Pro 8a's!
Everyone was having a go at photographing the MMA Fighters in action, with 2 people shooting at the same time up to 8 frames a second each! The packs never missed a beat!
The fighters Robin Black & Joseph Latour did a great job providing some fast action required to put the packs through their paces. S1 wants to thank all those who came out!

 Phase One Seminars
On June 3rd and 4th, hot off the successful European leg of the Phase One seminar tour, Walter Borchenko of B3K Digital will be presenting a series of Phase One seminars at S1 Studios in Toronto. The focus will be upon the latest updates of Phase One hardware and Capture One 4PRO software.  Tech Testing - Tethered Capture Speeds
A Phase One P30+, a Canon 1Ds mk3, and Canon 5D mk2 were tested tethered with Capture One 4 Pro and a range of different computers and drives.
S1 Capture is the most technically up to date Digital Capture Company in Canada, and to do this we have to upgrade our Computers, Monitors Peripherals, Software and Training on a monthly basis. In order to be able to provide the most stable Digital Capture environments to clients, we have to test all these new elements and see how they work together, and what, if anything, they might add to the speed, stability and throughput in a project.

  S1 and Canada's Next Top Model
S1 worked closely with Canada's Next Top Model (Season 3)
providing services for the TV Show as well as other Promotional
shoots. One shoot took place using Profoto equipment out on the
ice in Prince Edward Island, and the Profoto equipment
performed with flying colours. We thought this was a cool shot
showing photographer Nigel Barker with the model candidates
suited up in their survival suits on the ice!
Fashion Photographer Miguel Jacobs shot the latest cover of
Fashion Magazine with Jay and the contestants from Canada's
Next Top Model.
We also provided services to Miguel and thought to include this
great shot, as well as a cool video on the Behind the Scenes.

New Mac OS Version
Mac OS 10.5.7 is out for Leopard users! Download the upgrade meant to solve a Canon tethered capture issue direct from the Apple site.
Capture One Update
Capture One 4.8.1 is a free service release to existing Capture One 4.x owners. This version offers Image Quality Improvements
on the P65+ and P40+ as well as improved long exposure performance. Also introduces stability improvements. Download here.
S1 RAW Image Processor Comparison Test
The Image Processor Comparison Test released last month now has an addendum. Notice the splitting of results for Capture One images into two categories: Capture One images processed with a Linear Response curve and Capture One images processed with a Film Standard curve. These curves remain embedded in C1 files even when orphaned from the session folder and alter the look of the processed file. We thank photographer Tom Szuba for giving us the excellent suggestion of incorporating this additional variable. See the updated test here.
