Profoto Photo Assistants Fight Night at S1
 Assistants are invited to a Reception and Demonstration event held at S1 Studios to celebrate photographic assistants and the new Profoto Pro 8a packs and accessories. As well, this will be part of a Profoto world-wide photo contest for Photo Assistants, with $10,000 in Profoto equipment in prizes.This will include demonstrations of the unique speed of the Pro-8a Air system.
This is Fight Night, and to demonstrate how quickly Pro 8a packs can recycle we will have Mixed Martial Arts Fighters sparring, and you have the chance to photograph them at up to 10 Frames Per Second! Bring a CF card with you and experience the opportunity to photograph the fighters when sparring. You will also be able to see the New Profoto D1 heads and a range of the New Profoto lighting accessories. See how the Pro-8 Air & D1 enables you to adjust ratios and modelling lights remotely, from the camera. The reception will be an opportunity to socialize and network with other assistants and photographers, with wine, beer and food being served. Profoto is also hosting a related photo competition with the incentive to be internationally published both in print and on the web, to be the featured assistant of the month on ProfotoAssistant.com and in the Profoto blog, and the opportunity to win $10,000, $5000 or $2500 in Profoto equipment.This event, as part of a larger, international endeavour, will be hosted on:Tuesday, May 12th, 2009 at S1 Studios. There will be 2 sessions 3.00pm & 7.00pm. Each session will last 1 to 1.5 hours.

On Set With Canada's Next Top Model
Along with Camera Side Production, S1 also provided equipment, including our new Profoto Pro-8a Airs, and assistants on 10 different shoots in the month of March.
These shoots included photography by Mike Ruiz and John van der Schilden (pictured) among several other accomplished photographers. As always, S1 equipment and production travelled with the photographers whether they were shooting in Toronto or out of city.

Tech Updates
 Announcement regarding abnormal mirror operation (Err 99) in Canon EOS-1D Mark III and EOS-1Ds Mark III cameras.
The issue? The mirror does not operate even if the shutter button is pressed, and an "Err 99" Message appears frequently on the camera's LCD monitor. Canon will provide free repairs to affected products. To contact Canon customer service, click here.
Firmware update for Canon 1DS Mk III
This firmware update (Version 1.1.4) incorporates fixes on Live View shooting, insistent 'busy' messages, and clearer error indications. Further details on these fixes, as well as firmware download and install instructions are available on Canon's website.
