Why Isn't It on the Label?
WDr. Smokey Santilloe have been so conditioned by vitamin and drug companies that the dosage of a substance is the most important concern. It is a concern, but not the most important. We have to change our thinking and put things in proper order. We should be more concerned about taking whole food concentrates that have both known and unknown food factors. Each food has its own synergistic identity made up of thousands of phytonutrients combined with enzymes, vitamins, minerals, proteins, and carbohydrates that give each food its identity. Every food is different with its own nutrient configuration and structure. The matrix, the configuration, and structure are basically the same thing. Each food has its own identity and food factors. That is what this article is about.
 Meeting Individual Nutritional Needs
Nutritional Needs Second, and most important, is that our nutritional needs are not all the same. If somebody tells you that you need vitamin B12 or any other nutrient without taking your history or blood work, run from them. They do not know. Plus, the fact is that all vitamins and minerals are not the same in all foods. This is what I mean about different food factors having different identities.

Here is an example. Vitamin C in an orange is combined with thousands of the phytonutrients in an orange. Vitamin C in an apple is combined with all its known and unknown phytonutrients. Both foods have their own identity, their own matrix, or can we say, configuration. So we need vitamin C in all its different combinations from different foods. Take a good look at the small amounts of nutrients in fruits and vegetables and the small amounts that are in our bloodstream. Nature is trying to tell us something. It's the synergy of the whole foods that is first and foremost.

Here's an example of synergy in foods: a study by Eberhardt, Lee, and Liu at Cornell University (Nature, 405, 903-904 June 22, 2000.) These researchers showed that although 100 gms (3.5 oz.) of fresh apples has only 5.7 mg. of vitamin C, the apple in its "whole form" has the antioxidant activity of 1,500 mg. of vitamin C! They conclude that almost all of the antioxidant activity in apples must be due to phytochemicals (known and unknown). It's the synergy of the total matrix that makes the whole food work better than the sum of its parts.
Optimal Utilization of Nutrients in the Body
Nutrients in body
Our bodies handle nutrients differently and there is the law of diminishing effect. Our bodies are constantly building up new tissue and breaking down the old. Our body is dynamic and every second thousands of chemical reactions are taking place. We have different needs at different times. Genetics is a concern and each tissue is unique and has infinite variables.

Some organs may be strong, but if we're sick they could be in a degenerative state. If we're sick, bombarding our liver and kidneys with large amounts of supplements can weaken their functions and make a condition worse. Our body has a delicate balance and at any one time, it may need a phytonutrient, vitamin, mineral, or an unknown food factor. This is why our first choice should be whole foods and whole food supplementation that has it all. We must have an array of all these present at all times, not just one or two vitamins or even a multiple vitamin without all synergistic known and unknown factors combined by nature.

The body has an inherent intelligence and has to be able to pick and choose its needs at any one time. This is what is unique to Juice Plus+®; its food identity factors are all present. If you take just vitamin C, here is what happens. The body's focus and dynamics change to handle whatever you consume. Let's say you're trying to strengthen the collagen tissue in your kidneys. Some of the vitamin C stays bound in the intestines and gets excreted. Some gets used for detoxification; some is used by the immune system to control bacteria; a small amount may get to the kidneys. Plus, the fact is that all vitamin C isn't the same in every food. It is hooked with different unique identity food factors specific to that food. We need this variety and the same goes for all nutrients, known or unknown. Supplements can be important, but they're secondary to whole foods, especially whole food concentrates like Juice Plus+®. Here's why..
Cellular Identity and Your Diet
Cellular Identity
There is what we call "cellular identity." This is when your cells identify with their needs and absorb and utilize specific food factors-phytonutrients, vitamins, minerals, etc. Just to transport vitamin C through the body, our tissues use thousands of other nutrients and chemical changes to create a transport system to deliver vitamin C. Whole food concentrates make individual vitamins more bio-available. That's why Juice Plus+® comes first, then vitamin and mineral supplementation second. You can't put these facts on the label. You never know what the body is going to need, a known or an unknown food factor or a specific structural configuration.

Science hasn't even begun to study how thousands of phytonutrients combine with enzymes, vitamins, minerals, etc. in each separate food. Only spinach will take the place of spinach. Nothing is like it. It has its own identity. No supplement, no seaweed, no green barley has the same identity and configuration as spinach except spinach. Juice Plus+® was designed to back up two major healing food groups, fruits and vegetables in a pre-digested (easy digestable), bio-available form. Our research proves it. Plus we added small amounts of vitamins to Juice Plus+® and made them more bio-available (easier to absorb).
The Best Nutritional Foundation
Fruits and Vegetables We're not concerned about dosage; we're not in that business. We're concerned about giving the body whole foods with all their identity factors to make everything else work. We all have inherent susceptibilities. Some can absorb nutrients better than others; we have different needs at different times and we all need the unknown. Juice Plus+® is the foundation of all of this. Then get checked to see if you're deficient in nutrients. Don't guess and overburden your chemistry.

Don't let anybody tell you what you need beyond foundational nutrition without some type of an examination by a nutritional-oriented practitioner. Take Juice Plus+® with all its known and unknown food factors. Let your cells identify, pick, and choose their needs. Then, if you're deficient, get specific with other supplementation. Explain to people that every food has its own identity and healing effect on the body. That's what is missing in man- made, fragmented vitamins. No scientist can duplicate the thousands of nutrient configurations that nature presents to us. But we know one thing for sure--we need all food factors, known and unknown.

Then explain our research which proves everything I just said. The research that NSA has done on Juice Plus+® is our label. We KNOW IT WORKS. Got it!
