Deriving Nutrients and Energy from Foods
|
Life begets life. This simply means
that no matter what type of diet you're on, a certain amount of raw fruits and
vegetables is necessary. We need the fiber, nutrients, and energy from these
foods, but as we get older or have a chronic illness, we may have difficulty
digesting them. Foods sometimes have to be slightly steamed, and
digestive enzymes should be taken before meals. This is the major reason why I
developed a product called Juice Plus+®. It helps to
support the body's needs for fruits and vegetables and for those of us who just
don't eat enough of them.

The Energetics of Foods
|
I mentioned the word, energy in
the first paragraph. Raw foods carry a specific energy or bioforce specific to
each food. This is not the metabolic energy derived from food after we digest
it. It is the energy pattern based on how the plant manifests its vital force.
In easy terms, the vital force in the plant gives its configuration of enzymes,
phytonutrients, minerals, and other nutrients. The energy pattern is the
synergy of all these nutrients combined together and how they manifest within
the food. This energy pattern has to be compatible with the human body. Once a
food is cooked, the synergy can be lost. Foods can be cooked to excess, losing
its energy configuration and be made so foreign to the body that it can't be
digested or usable to build into tissues.
There are two fundamental factors to
consider about food. First, it has to be digested. Second, the wastes from the
food have to be eliminated through the kidneys, bowels, and skin. The farther
the food is away from its natural energy structure, the harder it is to digest,
assimilate, and eliminate its waste residue. All food has a waste residue after
digestion and usage by the body. And we wonder why we have kidney and
intestinal problems. The eliminative organs can only handle so much. This is
why it's important to drink plenty of water and do a 24 hour fast a few times a
month--even if it's a juice fast, water fast, or just pick a day and eat one
meal. See Natural Healing with Herbs
for some suggestions on cleansing and herbs for specific organs.
