A Prayer for Our Candidates for the 10th Bishop of the Diocese of Atlanta and
Our Nominating Committee

O God, we lift up each candidate for 10th Bishop of the Diocese of Atlanta as well as each member of the Nominating Committee for your blessing. Open all hearts and minds to the guidance of your Holy Spirit.

For the candidates ...

Be with them in their waiting and wondering.

Guide them in their ongoing discernment.

Give them courage to seek and do your will.

For those on the Nominating Committee...

Grant them wisdom in their discernment.

Calm their anxious moments with the reassurance of your presence.

Give them courage to seek and do your will.

Uphold us all by your grace and power. Give us faith in you and trust in one another and ourselves.

We pray all of this and more in the name

of Your Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, Amen.

White County Ministerial Alliance
Thanksgiving Service

More than a dozen churches in White County joined together to host an ecumenical community Thanksgiving service. This year the service was held at The Bridge in Cleveland. The Rev. Tom Eterlee of Crosswalk Baptist delivered the sermon. An offering was taken and over $1000 was collected and given to Family Promise of White County, an organization of churches that is addressing the homeless problem in our community.

Thanksgiving Food Baskets
From: Outreach
100 Days HuntThis week Resurrection's Outreach Committee prepared and delivered Thanksgiving food boxes to elderly and needy families throughout the area.

For many years Greg Adams at IGA has assisted us in preparing these boxes.  He always generiously adds items as his personal contribution to the boxes.  This year was no exception, when the boxes were picked up, he brought out additional cases of beans, corn, scalloped potatoes, candy, liter Cokes, and oranges to fill the boxes.

What a friend we have in Greg Adams.  When you are in IGA please thank Mr. Adams for his terrific support to our parish and community.
Resurrection Drama Group
The Voices of Advent
100 Days Hunt

Each Sunday in Advent and on Christmas Eve, the Resurrection Drama Group  will do a character monologue for the lighting of the Advent wreath.

Four robed characters share brief point-of-view reflections on the impending birth of the Savior, then conclude by lighting a                                                       candle on the Advent wreath.

Characters include:
Isaiah - Andy Gilbert
Elizabeth - Jill Hazen
The Innkeeper's wife - Jennifer Smith
Young shepherd - Tyrus Smith

Join us this Sunday for the first performance.

100 Days Hunt
ATTENTION PARISHIONERS!
A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS PARTY IS BEING PLANNED

The WREC'S (Women of Resurrection Church) are hosting the Wednesday night supper on 12/7/11 for all parishioners. There will be lots of finger foods, wine, coffee, & tea.

For all of this good food, fun and fellowship, we request that each person bring an unwrapped gift for a child.  Your generous donation will go to DFACS in White County to provide for children who, without our help, may not get gifts for Christmas.

Thank your so much for your support and see you on the 7th.
Resurrection Men's Group

NO DECEMBER MEETING

Thanksgiving is a time for reflection and thanks. The men's group has finished the first year of enjoying fellowship, growing our spirituality and showing up in the lives of others. Thanks to all of you who have been so faithful and loyal in getting this started!

Due to the busy Holiday schedule we will not have a meeting in December. We will begin again in January 2012. Watch your mail boxes and emails for details.
Charitable Giving 2011

One of the milestones of reaching age 70 is the IRS-mandated distribution of your IRA (Individual Retirement Account), called Required Minimum Distribution. In 2011, the IRS made it possible again for seniors to donate their Required Minimum Distribution to a qualified 501(c)(3)organization (charity). Resurrection Church can be the recipient of your Qualified Charitable Distribution-and preclude you from having to pay income tax on that IRA distribution. It is a great way to donate outright or meet your pledge for 2011, and reduce your tax liability!

You cannot also deduct this as a donation, however. You must contact your IRA custodian and instruct them to make your distribution payable to your chosen charity, rather than to you as is customary. This should be done before December. For more information consult IRS Publication 590, Qualified Charitable Distributions.
