BBQ Fundraiser in Helen THANK YOU!
Thanks, Thanks, Thanks, to all who helped make the chicken Q a success. We had great participation from members of the church.
Thanks also to David Wilkins who contacted Terry Simms owner of Cool River Tubing who let us set up in front of his business. This location helped us achieve our sales goal of 500 chicken quarters. The few pieces we had leftover were sold at church Sunday morning. The VW club told us the dates for next year and let us knows they would love to see us again next May.
Thanks again! |
Youth Trip Gwinnett Braves
The Resurrection youth group (also known as C.I.A. - Christians In Action) took a trip to Lawrenceville after the 10:30 service on Sunday, May 16 to attend the Gwinnett Braves baseball game. We rolled out a bunch of blankets and enjoyed a breezy, sunny afternoon on the grass behind the center field fence. The kids had room to roam, and refreshments were plentiful if not exactly free.
Thanks to Jacky Jones Ford we were able to take most of the group in a 15-passenger van, and our chauffeur, Roy Freeman, also did a nice job for us.
We got to see a home run by Dewayne Wise, but unfortunately he doesn't play for the Braves any more. The Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs took the 3-1 victory, but we had a great time! |
Resurrection Actors Star in: The Wizard of Oz
Resurrection stars shine in the high school's production of "The Wizard of Oz." Dylan Schlandt had the starring role as the Scarecrow. |

Adult Christian Education Next Two Sundays
This Sunday May 23 & next Sunday May 30, during the Sunday school hour, Deacon Ed will be leading a class about how we got "The Bible as it is Today."
We will look into and discuss how and which historic manuscripts are the references used for compiling the canon of scriptures we know as the "Holy Bible" and what the differences are between translation, interpretation and paraphrase. We will also explore who translated and who authorized the versions available to us today.
Note: Children's Christian will begin again in the fall. |
