A Lesson in Safety!

Greetings!
Welcome back! When talking to our clients about mobile shelving, safety is almost always a concern, and rightfully so!
Safety has been paramount in Spacesaver's engineering of its storage systems from the very beginning. In fact, we've pioneered virtually every significant safety device in the industry!
So what safety device is best for your client? Well, that will depend on their individual needs. Our job is to make sure the client gets the safety system that is best for their unique situation.  We do this by asking the appropriate questions such as; Is the material on the system active or inactive? Will it be in a restricted access area with limited users or open to all employees? Is it in a public or private access area? Etc.
Get to know Spacesaver's safety devices below! If you have any questions or just want more information, please give us a call!

Safety Sweep - Small

Mechanical Safety Sweep

As the most basic safety option available for high-density mobile shelving, the Mechanical Safety Sweep provides in-aisle safety for users and objects on the floor of an aisle with a pressure sensitive, hinged panel running the length of each carriage at foot level. The Mechanical Safety Sweep is compatible with all Spacesaver powered carriages and all mechanical assist carriages.

Major Benefit: Protects users and material with in-aisle safety.
Photo Sweep SafetyPhoto Sweep

As the baseline of safety devices available on powered systems, Photo Sweep uses photoelectric technology to provide protection for people and objects in open aisles.

Major Benefit: Provides in-aisle safety for users and material but does not require pressure to activate.  The carriage will stop immediately when the light beam is broken, BEFORE the carriage touches the object blocking the aisle.
Aisle Entry with SensorAisle Entry Safety Sensor

As an add-on safety feature, the aisle-entry sensor can be used with the photo sweep option, which uses the same infrared photoelectric technology to enhance a system's level of security.

Major Benefit: Protects users who enter a closing aisle.

Zero-Force Sensor SafetyZero Force Sensor (ZFS) System

Ideal for high-activity areas, the ZFS Security devise provides the "passive" method of protecting people and objects in the open aisles of mobile storage systems.

Major Benefit: ZFS is a microprocessor controlled infrared photoelectric system that requires no conscious effort or weight pressure to stop or prevent carriage movement when a person or object is detected. ZFS detects virtually anything on the floor of an aisle and provides for automatic reset.
