How do you really become a winner? It's by fighting the war against yourself and winning. It's by competing against yourself, not somebody else. Out-running your rival doesn't mean you ran your best. You can win over another and still not fulfill your potential. To be your best you must compete with yourself. This is life's biggest conquest!

You are winner...despite the many losses you may face in life, if you conquer yourself. The very opposite is also true: No matter how many victories you may have, you are a loser if you fail to conquer yourself! We all see and read about great people who seemingly conquer the world and are highly successful but are destroyed by lack of self-control.

Being successful in whatever God puts in your hands is something to be desired. However never be competitive and don't compare yourself with others. It's not what happens to you that matters, it's what happens in you! The one who matures in the weightier matters ...love, peace and godliness, is the one winning the true battles of life.

If you must compare yourself with another, compare yourself with Christ. Christ is your example. He never sinned, he never answered back when insulted. He was not arrogant, independent, thoughtless and cruel. He never got even; but left His case in the hands of God who judges fairly. Compare yourself with that standard! And when you see how more work needs to be done in you, get down on your knees and ask God to mold and make you more like Jesus! If you do this on a regular basis, you will be on your way to winning the biggest battle of life...winning against your sinful flesh!
